Re: Project "49 No Buck$"
Hey "oldcouple" I'm between LaGrande and Ontario Or. right now at the Baker City, Or. car show! Another good (900 miles one way) road trip in the Brown Bomber! I even won best "Rat Rod" (ugh) so now I'll never hear the end of it!

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"
agh rat rod I hear you. not to spark up a whole debate over it, your truck is
not a rat rod. People take creativity and ingenuity as a rat rod, or a little patina or flat black paint. maybe someday they will get it. I Like the shock idea. Maybe I'll get some.

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"
I'm still giggling from when you texted me yesterday and told me you won the Rat Rod award. That truck isn't even remotely close to being a Rat Rod. Some guys just don't get it.

Stay at the Grand Hotel and visit the ghosts. Is the Blue and White cafe still open? We used to stop there in the early 80's. My GGF and GF built 4 houses in the historic district, on Washington Street if I remember right. Oregon Trail Museum is great too. Drive safely.

I guess you're going to have to weld some rebar, coffee cans, pitchforks and various other rusty non-functional items on her now!

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"
Yo Jackson... The inner fender stuff is all there as far as I know. It didnt have the radiator part of the core support, so I just used what I had to work with. Also, PM me again cuz I needed to empty my message box!

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"
Thanks Mr. Bill! Here's some other stuff to check out! I was able to do the push truck thing at the 2012 Hot Rod Reunion in Bakersfield and man, what a blast! I had to come up with a push bar idea to do it and after explaining my plan to my friend "Hot Rod Bob", he got busy fabricating while I was striping and lettering his truck! Sometimes trading is a great thing! So here's what we did... I picked up some pieces from my local trailer place. Grabbed a couple small receiver pieces, 2 pins and a 6' chunk of 2'x1/4" square tubing. My idea was to build something that could be hidden under the front valance/tray when it wasn't being used. Here's how it looks When I'm done, I pull the pins and bolt the valance back on and there's nothing to give away what's underneath! Here we are in the staging lanes and going down the track! Alex and I had a freakin' awesome day!

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"
Very cleaver. I love when a solution is well thought out. Even better yet when it is hidden. Less it more ya know.

^^That's the plan!!
The Cacklefest is starting to get where the push cars and trucks are almost as cool as the racecars.

Re: Project "49 No Buck$"
I really enjoyed reading this. I started reading it on the Hamb, but lost track of it. Found it again through your buddy Chevyrestoguy's thread. Love those Gauges. It sure has the look of a sixties survivor. Anyway, I know its an old thread but felt I owed you for the enjoyment. Good job!
