Re: 1968 Chevrolet SWB Stepside Restomod

Hey all;
I just purchased a universal Bolt in Battery tray from Speedy Bill.
http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Bolt-I...-Box,5334.html
I also ordered a -6AN to -6AN coupler and tube nuts so I can section my return fuel line because right now it's all one piece from front to back which isn't easy to work with if there is a problem.

Hey Brian what kind of sway bar is that that you have in the front? I have one very similar and without thinking about it I cut one coil off of my front springs to get a little lower and now I don't know if the sway bar will work, any thoughts? You are getting close!

It's a factory GM 1/2 ton sway bar.
I have two inch lowering springs and it worked fine.

The battery tray was delivered today.
The construction is solid and it is heavy duty.

Good I am glad it came in and now you can get the battery in and start wiring the cab. You put it off long enough.

Fortunately according to the 10 day forecast today is the last hot day for atleast the next 10 days, I'm supposed to have beautiful weather high 70's to low 80's so I should be able to get a lot of work done on the truck.

Re: 1968 Chevrolet SWB Stepside Restomod

Hey all;
Today I went and exchanged the LH front brake caliper because the manufacture that rebuilt it used a help coil where the bleed valve is and when I tried to release the bleed valve the help coil unscrewed instead.

Here is the new one having recieved a fresh coat of high temp paint.

Re: 1968 Chevrolet SWB Stepside Restomod

Hate it when that happens! Heli coils can be amazing life savers IF DONE RIGHT but it sounds like they didn't do it that way. Glad u got another without too much hassle.

Re: 1968 Chevrolet SWB Stepside Restomod

I have used the heli coils before on head bolts and never had one come out. But at least it was where you could take it back and get a replacement. Keep working and looking forward.

Re: 1968 Chevrolet SWB Stepside Restomod

Hey all;
I got tired of all the black in the engine compartment so I decided to paint the battery tray silver.
I don't know if I will keep it this color or not but I wanted to see what it would look like.
I used a black primer then sprayed the silver on.

Re: 1968 Chevrolet SWB Stepside Restomod

Hey all;
Today I put together my own HD fuel pump wiring kit per Aeromotives specifications, and started installation, I didn't get completely done but I will finish it up tomorrow.
I got everything I needed at O'reilly including the 10ga wire they sell it by the foot.

The kit consists of the following items.
1) 1x 30amp, 12vdc automotive relay.
2) 1x 30amp, 12vdc circuit breaker.
3) 2x Blue Female Blade Connector.
4) 2x Yellow Female Blade Connector.
5) 5x Yellow Ring Connector for #10 Stud.
6) 1x Yellow Ring Connector for 3/8” Stud.
7) 1x 25ft 10ga. Red Wire.
8) 1x 3ft 10ga. Black Wire.
9) 6x 6 inch cable ties.
*Connectors required will vary per application.
