That's pretty cleaver. Makes me wonder if that would work with a typical strut/spring assembly. Nice work!

Oh, and I left the Jaguar sticker on there just for fun. Also the rear brake pads say Jaguar on them, hopefully they will peep out of the rims.

Very nice work Drew. Your spring compressor looks like something I would come up with.
Love to see resourceful ideas.

Re: Bride of Young Frankenstein - 1957 Buick Super

An epic battle has been unfolding in my garage - I was thinking of just sprucing it up with some paint, but then I kept finding rust in impossible places. The spring pockets being the worst of it. Then I started researching and found a Jaguar XJS "bible" that goes into detail about typical failures and remedies and sure enough, I had most of them! Worn stub axles, worn bearing races, loose rack & pinion mounts, rusty calipers (I knew that one), trashed lower control arm bushings. The only thing I don't have on the list is leaky rack unit, but they say it is only a matter of time and nearly impossible to replace in a complete car. So here goes - we're all in now - waiting on brown santa.

Re: Bride of Young Frankenstein - 1957 Buick Super

I'm still pluggin away over here. Front end is completely torn apart and just about everything has been bead blasted - even the whole crossmember got crammed in there. New parts are about all here, just need to paint up and start the re-assembly.

It'll be another 70 years before anyone will have to dig into this car's suspension again!
