Specifically post #5. I love the push on weatherstrip. The only downside is that they take a little time to flatten so your door will be hard to close for bit, but they seal great!

Love the new steering wheel and cruise setup. Do you have a punch list or what? It's almost like you plan on finishing this truck within a year

Thanks Mike.. I have a punch list in my head.. need to put it on paper. I would love to finish it up in a year, but I think my goal now is to have it completed before April of next year.

Working on how I want to do the fuel filler/door this morning.. To many options.. I have an idea, but I am not sure how it will look..

Re: Crash's 72 K10

Built a bracket for the air box.

Started the tear down.

Ordering a complete cab rubber kit today.. I need the door opening weather-stripping to get the doors fitted. Still debating if I want to go with the standard windshield seal or the deluxe version (the one with the stainless trim).

Re: Crash's 72 K10

Time for an update.. Started off the day sandblasting all the larger pieces I had left in preparation of spraying some epoxy primer. After that I worked on my fuel filler..

Then it was time to apply some primer…

I ordered a headliner and trim, and push-on door seals this week, with the goal being to get the cab ready for paint…

Re: Crash's 72 K10

Back to spraying primer this morning..

Gas filler….

Seam sealed and mounted the inner fenders and then flipped the bed on its end to spray the undercoating..

I think the bed is ready to go the Kyle’s for paint in a few weeks.. I hope to get the cab ready to go over the next couple of weeks…

This is coming along really well, the gas cap in the bed is just perfect, very nice touch. How do find the compressor in keeping up with your sandblaster?

Re: Crash's 72 K10

Update time.. Started the weekend with looking over the rubber kit I got from GMSPAUL’S (not sure what is going on, but it was shipped from Brothers). Everything looked good, except that the shipment was short a few parts (they were back ordered and I should get them in a few days). My plan is to get all the gaps set correctly so that I can tear it all down and send the parts to Kyle for paint.

First step was to install the push on door seals.. I was very satisfied with how they fit..

After fitting the doors, I started in on the fenders.. the passenger side fit well except for the profile of the door and fender were not the same.. Not sure what to do about the issue.. considering laying the fender on the floor with blocks of wood under the top and bottom and attempting to flatten the fender out some to better match the door.. It really isn’t that bad, but I would like to get it closer.

Still some work to do.. but it is starting to look really good… (in my eyes)

Still have some work to do on the cowl..

After that my beautiful and super freakish strong wife helped me to set the bed on the frame..

Getting the bed setting on the frame made me smile a little.. I know there is a ton of work left.. but damn.. it is starting to look like a truck again…

Looks like I am going to have to work on the rockers some to get them to match up with the doors…. But hey.. that is what happens when you mate Taiwan metal to USA metal…

This week, I am going to start searching for some NOS parts.. windshield and back glass chrome/stainless trim, mirrors and bumpers (doubt I go NOS on the bumpers, most likely repo…)

Re: Crash's 72 K10

The black really shows the lines well, doesn't it? Did you out new body mounts in? The bed appears to be higher by 1/2 an inch or so.

Kudos to your wife for the lift!

It does.. I hope it will hide them somewhat when it is all black.. I did install new body mounts... The front of the bed is high.. the front bed mounts are welded on by one of the PO.. the are not in the right spot.. I will cut them off and fix them (make them bolt on) before I do final assembly...

Thanks I will check them out. Did you have any issue with the filler neck hose? I have seen others have trouble adapting from one size filler hose to their filler neck. Truck looks great! looks almost like the truck is taller than the shop door opening, pretty close I bet!

I have not routed the filler neck hose yet.. but I don't think I will have any issues. The filler and the gas tank are both 2", so I should not have to adapt anything...

It is close.... but it fits...

Thanks Mike.. I feel lost not following your lead.. lol.. Most of the gaps look good.. I still have a couple of issues I have to work.. The rocker area is not right.. I need to section, pull in, and weld the driver’s side to get it prefect.. not sure it is worth the effort.. it's just a old truck.. The fender profile is different than the door.. so I need to get that worked out.. I am planning on taking Wed - Fri off to see if I can get it all worked out this week.. I hope to take the cab to Kyle sometime next week if he is ready...
