Last night I dyed everything Napa red, including the speaker grills and trim rings. I'm not sure if I like it, or feel its a bit much. I need to get the storage tray installed before I decide. Unfortunately I had a set back that I have to address first.

The vinyl I used to wrap everything is thinner that what I have used in the past. It seemed durable enough for the application. The grain was a close match to the GM vinyl so I bought enough to do two trucks. The problem I encountered is the 3M glue Im using tends to soften the vinyl. Thats great when your working with stretching it to cover a panel. Its not so good when it separates from the backing, or is gouged by a sharp object while wet.

We managed to cover the end panels in one piece, but they were stretched very tight. While mocking them up, the speaker grills were up against the end caps and chewed a hole in one side. I tried to recover it, but the glue is doing what its supposed to do. Now that its cured the bond is permanent and I will have to shred the vinyl to remove it. The good news is I have a template.

Re: 85 GMC Sierra "Scarlett"

Today day was icing on the cake from hell week at work. I came home hoping to wrap the end of the storage tray that was bad so it could cure overnight. After two failed attempts I got it 90% done only to run out of glue. I decided to call it a night and try again in the morning Grrrr

Countdown to Throwdown! My shipment from @precisionreplacementparts arrived today. Those worn and tired vent windows I shipped in were rebuilt from top to bottom. Now they are better than new.
Chris and I got them installed this afternoon with fresh hardware and they look amazing. Tomorrow I will add the new belt line trim to replace the import pieces that were there.

Re: 85 GMC Sierra "Scarlett"

Despite being distracted by service calls, it was a productive weekend. Saturday we focused on assembling and final fitting as we pieced the interior back together. We spent a lot of time searching for matching sets of screws and bolts once again, but we managed to find what we needed.

I finished the package tray once again and got the new end cap dyed. We prepped the seat belts and dyed the plastic as well. While that was curing we focused on the kick panels. I added a layer of Silent Coat before installing the panels.
We added a layer of Reflectix for additional thermal barrier on the headliner panel and set it in place. The freshly restored sun visors went in too. My dome light crumbled to small pieces so Chris came up with a late model light that we are going to use.

Chris had to wrap up a Christmas present project he had started so we double teamed the last of his custom built table.

Re: 85 GMC Sierra "Scarlett"

Last night my Relaxed Atmosphere brotherNelson came by and tinted my windows. The film that was on it was scratched and peeling. Chris and I removed the old tint and Nelson came and worked his magic.
I'm not a big fan of dark tint especially on a classic trucks so we went with 35%. It's a bit darker than I prefer but it matches the rear slider.
If you live near Spring or Cypress and need tint let me know. Nelson is a professional that's fast and reasonable priced.

Re: 85 GMC Sierra "Scarlett"

Tonight I finished a small task before working on my honey do list. Precision Replacement Parts sent my vent windows full assembled including the latch handles. Since I wanted the window tint to go under the latch handles I had to remove them. They aren't hard to reinstall if you have 3 hands, but I managed of get them done without destroying the new tint.

Note that the rubber seal has some minor kinks in it. I dont have a heat gun in my shop right now. Chris is bringing one from work and that issue will be resolved.

I wondered about that. I know the last build you had them leave the latches off so you could tint first.

Re: 85 GMC Sierra "Scarlett"

As promised I have some exciting news that I have been sitting on till everything was confirmed.
As you know the debut of Scarlett will be at @lonestarthrowdown in February.

I have been honored by American Racing to be on display in their booth. She will be rolling on the latest in billet wheels by American Racing Custom shop.
Here are some of the options that we are considering.
