Re: The Project Havoc....

Also a little Teaser pic for the future, Mel wanted a chevelle and I found one, a 72 SS, A true SS!! not much there but enough that I needed. Believe it or not this is what I wanted, that way I am not buying a hulk and throwing out most of it. Up here it is extremely hard to find one of these cars, like really hard, they want $5000 for something that I will just gut and throw most of it away, at least this way I can go from here. I have been doing a lot of trading with friends for this car so far, no money exchanged yet to this date, I got most of the front sheetmetal already and the dash. The idea behind this one, is 4-wheel discs, slammed, riding on 18/20's. custom suspension. She will go TruBlue pearl with white strips. Interior will be mostly from a newer GTO. 12 bolt, 427 tall deck, stroked and bored to a 496 running a custom made fuel injection system by Cory, kind of a ram jet intake look. and behind it a 6 speed transmission. which BTW I got tonite. A friend gave me it, it is from a 04' Viper. needs a couple things, but it is a start so here we go!!!! I KNOW MOST OF YOU THINK I AM CRAZY, BUT THIS IS WHAT MAKES US, US. STRIVING FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT, AND DOING THE IMPOSSIBLE, WHEN SOMEONE SAYS IT CAN NOT BE DONE.

Cool, I'm a Chevelle guy as well. Mine is a 67 and it too is a true SS. You can check out my website (www.67chevelleSS.com). It's been on hold for a couple years since I got into these model trucks. I will get back to it one day. Steve

Update.............

SHRAPNEL. is what I get when i decidde I need to check the rocker adjustment. Had one comp cam lifter blow up in the truck. the retainer let go and the plunger is a little further out than it shoud be. So she has been sitting for a bit. tonite and tomorow night I will be tearing the motor down to change the lifters, again, for the second time. oh well. lets just hope that the cam is still good. I know I sure do. As for the mileage, you bet still knocking down some good mpg's. no complaints there. oh well. I will have some updates in a day thou. I have been currently been working 12's at work the last two weeks and will be for the next two weeks, we are super busy, so why not take advantage of the overtime while I can. anyways, later guys.

Hey what happened to those 4 day work weeks every other week? Overtime we don't need no stinking overtime.................. Just kidding. I have been there done that.

Sorry to hear about the lifter bailing on you. Take some pics of the swap.

Re: The Project Havoc....

Well a little bit to report, besides the overtime I have been doing lately, I got the Moser rear axles in the truck, a new rear caliper, Reverse Lights that work!!!!!! and a few other odds and ends. In the meantime one of my lifters decided that it needed to bail out of its home and into the motor, so apart it came. a friend picked me up a set of lifters for it and we installed them, to my suprise they were the wrong ones and had no oil to the engine, so out they came an in went a set of new ones again, this time they worked!!! However the first ones that blew up, on blew up, and 3 decided to not turn in their bores, go figure, it did not hurt the cam much but enought that this winter she is soming apart and gonna get a new on in her. we got the carb tuned a little better and she made some noise. now all I have to do is get my new steering coloumn installed and my new wheel that jsut showed up, soo I hope, but I doubt it. I also would like to get my fuel tank in her but I have a feeling that will not happen soon. oh well on to pics.

Sorry to hear about the lifter trouble. Nice looking wheel spacer. You have to make the counterbore deeper/bigger? That is a great looking steering wheel too!

Re: The Project Havoc....

Well guys, so far the truck seems to be running good, got 1200 miles on her now so getting there. but I thought I would share something with you guys tonite, a friend just dropped off this engine for me, Guess what it is going into, THE CHEVELLE, but fixed up a little different, 6.0 with a 6 speed with a couple of twin turbos on it now. I think about Tc-66's. That should suffice. Roughly 800 RWHP. So as of now I got a grand total of $100 dollars into this car. not bad. Had to pay that for the engine, but overall it is fairly clean. now to just gut it and get it all back together, but as with anything, It has it;s place in the food chain. Havoc will get done first. So if anyone has a drive by wire wiring harness and pedal for me, let me know, also a front pulley setup, out of a f-body or vette. wink wink.

How the heck did you score the 6.0 for $100? That is a smoking deal even if it needs rebuilt!

Nuke, now you delving into LS motors you may need to become (if not already) a member of a more LS geared forum. You may find some parts here, but LS motor swaps are failry new to our trucks. Other forums geared towards LS's will have a plethora of parts. More than you'll need. You can find anything there. So try the following forums....

**ls1tech.com
**lateral-g.net
**pro-touring.com
