Re: What did you do with your truck today, take 2

Carpet trimed, edged and installed, need to do the piece over the hump and some minor fitting and trimming insulation, but I'm happy.

Looking good OrrieG! Are you doing the edging yourself? Cheers, Jim

Local shops wanted more than I wanted to pay edge bind carpet. I used a product called Instabind, basically has a tape edge that sticks on the back and a hot glue gun is used to bind the carpet edge to the binder. Looks good from a couple of feet, but if you look close you can see the glue. If you used a more plush or cut pile type carpet it would not be as obvious. Here is a link to the product. If you look online you can find it for $1.25 per foot, I got 54 feet and used about 45 of it.

I got a couple of pics from the shop today. They have started installing the rear suspension. He sent me a pic of the truck but somewhere between my phone and computer it got lost.

After 7 months of welding cab and door panels at the shop, brought her back to the house to finish cleaning up the bottom, seal all the exterior seams and apply a hefty dose of Hippo liner. Looks nice, huh? Her bottom - not the clown in the cab (me)!

Cheers, Jim

Pulled vacuum on the ac system, holding good so no leaks. Installed filter in booster vacuum line. Also looked at some hickory for bed wood.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, take 2

I got this pic from the shop a few days ago. It gives me a strange feeling seeing my truck apart like that when I didn't do it myself, but I know that it will be done right, probably better than if I had done it.

Did a test fit of the tubular control arms for 70-81 camaro from Performance online. Also fit the QA-1 coil-overs and C-5/6 spindles with 13 in. rotors. Had to message the lower control arm mounts on subframe so the tubular ones would fit. Also had the drill out shock mounting holes on lowers so QA-1's would fit.

I just bought my kit from speedway and they sent me the 375lb springs because anything higher than that "isn't necessary". Hopefully they sent you what you actually ordered.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, take 2

Today as I walked by the burned out hulk of my truck and I heard it call me a dirty name.

The front clip I need is up in the San Fernando Valley for a good price. I just hoping it will still be there next time I drive up to the LA area to see my family.

Hi Yoshi...
I'm heading over to New York in October. Is there a good place for parts there close to the city?
....better than Mueseums and sight seeing!

Re: What did you do with your truck today, take 2

I got a couple of more pics from the shop. The axle and rear suspension is in but not totally complete. The brake lines, emergency cables, new driveshaft, and shocks still have to be done. I see an AD in the pic but don't know any details on it.
