It will be babied the first couple years until I go to some of the bigger shows around me. I will drive it up to the cruise nights on Thursdays and sure it will occasionally be driven on the weekend.

Re: My Blue 1957 build

Been an expensive week of f-ups. First I broke the back of the starter solenoid and naturally they don't sell the solenoid for the LS motors. Then apparently when I mated the motor and trans back together I broke the delicate pump gear in front of the trans and in doing so screwed up the torq converter.

Oups, that sure sounds expensive.

Re: My Blue 1957 build

When the guy I bought my engine/trans from separated them he broke the front pump on the trans. It's pretty easy to do if you leave the torque converter bolted to the fly wheel.
I ended up doing some up grades to my trans while I had it apart.
Good luck with the fixes.

The truck looks amazing, but your starting to scare me off of an LS upgrade.

The upgrade is worth it. Just be careful. I should have known that something was binding with the trans. It was being a pain going back together, but I thought it was just how I was putting them back together. The starter was my fault. Put a little more into it then I need and it broke. It's all fixed and running right now.

Re: My Blue 1957 build

On a good note....... almost done treating bedwood so hopefully I will be getting that all back in this coming week. As soon as I get the gremlins out of my damn truck I can get back to the little things.

Re: My Blue 1957 build

your truck looks awesome. it is the colour I was thinking of painting mine, although that seems like a loooong way off right now.
just a note on auto transmissions. whenever you seperate them from the engine always leave the torque converter with the trans. just unbolt it from the flywheel and push it back into the trans. that way you won't break anything putting it back together plus you don't generally damage any seals or "o" rings on the input shaft or the trans torque seal.
at least you got it figured out and got an upgrade out of the deal. bonus, ha ha
keep up the good work and post lots of pics. it gets the rets of us off the couch and working on our stuff too.

Finally finished treating bed wood. It was a pain had to drop gas tank and exhaust to get at it easier, but it all back together now. Brought it home to finish up some little stuff.
