Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Well done Martin !!!!
This is what you needed in the first place. Glad it all went well and that Mrs Del kept you in tea and took the photos. Really pleased you have the engine you always needed now and that it is truly complete. Guess we will need another short session getting the 305/7 and box out the garage so it can be sold complete, and the 350 into the garage before the chassis goes any further.

Great engine Martin and great score on the exhaust, a bit of exhaust wrap will have those headers looking good as new

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Well after collecting the engine on Sunday and helping Dell strip the bits off the chassis for the guy to collect . I stayed and helped him strip the bed . Well on Monday I got a text from Dell to say he had gone and collected another truck from the port that had arrived from over the pond .
This is the truck it's a 6 cylinder 3 speed stick shift He has a few little jobs to do on it then it will be up for sale . If any of the guys in the UK are interested I can pass you on Dell's number This is the good bit , the reason he phoned me was to tell me ,I could have the bed sides and the panel behind the cab . He wants too keep the tailgate to make one of these So when I got in from work it was straight over to his to collect the panels . They are a bit dented and the lamp panel on one is damaged. But let's be honest they were FREE Loaded in the back of the car they did stick out a little but it's only 40 miles back and practically all motorway. These are the panels home safe and sound The funniest thing was as I pulled up outside Dell's house his wife said I am so pleased to see you . Dell replied you getter a better welcome than I do . I said that's because I come and take stuff away . so I loaded the car had a look around the new truck . After we had a chat I left a happy man and his wife Cat was happy as more parts cleared from outside the house

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
I will weld up the saddle tank door as I already have a tank in the bed . The rear lamp section of the passengers side is all torn up . It would be a shame to cut this off my bedside so I might look for that section when I am in the states .

I think he said the paper work said 69 but it's a nice looking truck . All the writing on the side and coach line has been done by hand .

So you have the Holy Grail for your build, still needs a gearbox though ehhhh? What about this lot????? are you going to sell it or use it in the lounge as a coffee table? Remember, went to,see it start, run and move the truck it was in last year before removing it and bringing it back. Rogers truck before we pulled the engine. Clean bay before removing the motor and box, and I have to say, not a mark on any of the paint after all was done and removed. Time for a change of Face..... Martin trying so hard not to buy the scoop..... Ready to rock n roll.... Strapped down, one of the hooks still managed to make a bid for freedom by the time we filled the car a couple of miles later.

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Cab trolley........??
On the way home from work tonight I swung by my almost local treasure island. The guys there often call me when they have something interesting they think I may be interested in. This week it was a mobility scooter chassis, as I had asked them to look out for one of them that I could use for the wheelbarrow based soapbox kart I wanted to build. While there, I always get to walk around the yard with the boys. Today I saw an old trolley with decent wheels on and then Glen cut off the wheels for me, for Martin to improve his cab trolley, as his wheels have been self destructing. The price....?? A bottle of coffee and two kilo's of sugar. Bargain I think. Ready to be processed and fitted.

You are right.
The thing is, we live 15 miles apart and a lot of what we manage to do is shared skills and labour. So copy and paste works real well.

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
Well last night I got a PM regarding my old engine and box . it's now sold to a guy on the Isle of Man . The best bit is my surname is Hetherington not a very common name down south . Well after a long chat it looks like his dad and mine both came from Newcastle . So he may be a relative somewhere along the line .
He's building a Chevy pick up with a 3inch roof chop . So with the money in the bank on Friday night , I went down to my local garage first thing on Saturday morning as I had already spoken to one of the guys there about his TH350 auto box he was selling during the week . While I was collecting my box, a guy called in with a Barracuda ,he has had it since he was 23 years old and that was 22 years ago This is the auto boxi collected It came with the torque converter so I just need too get a flex plate After getting home the next job was to get the old engine onto a pallet ready for the courier to take it to the Isle of Man . Old engine with the new one All packed and read to go thanks to Rian for coming over to give me a hand So then later in the day I went over to Rian's house to help him strip the front of his truck down . I think every time I go over there when I leave his truck seems to be in a worse state . It does make me laugh as the sheer panic on his face when we pull more parts off his truck check his thread for pictures This is how I left it

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"
I got a text from Ta2Don around 6pm asking if Iwas up for a FaceTime chat.......
I replied that I was digging a large hole. Don replied...."Is that for Martin?" How perceptive. Note that mad face of a man who just managed to break my truck even further. Thanks for the help Martin. The pelleted engine looks good.
