Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build
Yeah I would change that one, I put an anodized one on mine and it looks great. I have heard of too many fires too.

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build
Interestingly, I just walked by my chevelle this morning and it was leaking gas, wuite a bit actually! The rubber line between the glass filter and the fule pump is leaking, not sure if I used incorrect line or if it somehow got cut... but I'm glad it wasn't near my intake!

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build
I would definitely change that filter. Had a very similar one on mine and it never "broke" but I noticed it leaking one day. It had been sitting in the garage for a month while I rewired the whole truck. Once I was able to start it, I let it run for a minute and shut her down to find out that fuel was dripping rather quickly from the end of the filter. No cracked glass either.
I had driven with that at least once a week for 6 months prior to that with no problems. Just goes to show it can happen at any time. One big cause I've read about is vibration. And more so if it is resting on something, or close and the vibration makes it hit the intake or valve cover or whatever. I feel better knowing I have a lot less chance of burning up my truck, or anyone inside it. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build
Eddy's have some pretty cool options for fuel filters. You can see how mine comes off the inlet and has one of those clean-able filters in the end. Onlys costs like $20. Just an option.

Re: 1972 Chevy p/u NewType Build
There's a fuel pressure gauge on the back of the filter. It comes with the kit. it was $40 plus S&H. It's nice to have if you ever run into issues with idle quality or drivability. You'll be able to see if it's a fuel pressure problem or not, just by checking the gauge.

Hey, sounds like fun to me, but with Blue still in rehab I would have to bring the Elco or the Harley but ride or drive sounds good to me

You kids in Cali have it nice! Your talking about cruising... And I just blew off 6"+ of snow today. Just a little jealous! But on the same note I'm not jealous of all your restrictive laws!

I have a house in the Sierras and it has about 8' of snow but during the winter I don't go there much. Down here in the flatlands I can ride my bike, little cold but awesome.
