Re: Post pics. Lets see how many 60-66 4x4 are out there.

My '65 K10. 400 small block and a 4-speed. 90% new brakes (some of the hard lines are original) new charging system and a new clutch with the correct flywheel for a 400.

I'm sort of at a "pencil's down" moment, because of the weather and the holidays, but I'm still picking away at things. Once I take care of how to get gas into the rear-mounted tank... and finish rebuilding the parking brake system... and fabricating new front mounts for the bed, I can bolt the bed down once and for all. From there the fenders and steps should bolt right on.

Thanks Man. Iv always thought long bed 4x4s were sexy. Short beds don't do to much for me. They look funny. And reminds me of a pug.

Yeah. I still like shortbeds, but I tend to actually use my truck for its intended purpose (not like those lowered 2wd guys! ) and I really wish I had the extra space of a long bead. Plus it would make it so much easier to swap in a 40 gallon FI suburban tank to feed my impending 8.1L swap.

8.1l vortec gasoline motor. Check out member DirtyLarry's squarebody 4x4. That's where I got the inspiration.

I didn't know they made an 8.1. I thought it was a 5.7,5.3, and 6.0. Hm Interesting

I have a semi built 375 hp 350 pushing a 700r4 12 bolt rear with a posi. just need to get goin on the 3 link coilover conversion up front and she is ready to rock and roll. I cant stand leaf springs up front. Way to bouncy for me.

Re: Post pics. Lets see how many 60-66 4x4 are out there.

Yea. Coils have a much smoother ride. Iv heard of guys using large ford or chevy van springs for front ends on acing trucks. Not specifically 60-66 but still. It's the concept

Re: Post pics. Lets see how many 60-66 4x4 are out there.

Bought this truck without an engine, the previous onwner swears it had a 350. Is there a way to tell if it had a 283 or a 327 from the radiator. It still has the ram horn exhaust, clutch linkage and 420 trans. Thanks, Dave...

Re: Post pics. Lets see how many 60-66 4x4 are out there.

Does the cab vin plate still have the factory rosette rivets attaching it to the cab? Also does the cab vin# match the frame stamped vin#? If it is an original 4x4 and it came with a V8 engine it came with a 283.
