Re : 292 Green Paint
Try your local Detroit Diesel Parts Dealer , they have the correct color in Foo-Foo cans , if you take the time to strip the engine accessories and mask it before painting , it'll look very good and this paint lasts for decades , not cheap though .

Re: Post Your Straight Six Pics!
I've been working on my linkage on my three 1bbl set-up on my 292. I think I'm getting it pretty close.
This is at idle: And at wide open: I used 3 stock l6 throttle rods so I could use the original connectors. I had to build the bellcranks. I think they came out OK. I had to fab this up, too. For some reason, these Offy manifolds have the center linkage mount hole in a different place. So I made this little bracket and welded a stud to where I needed it. Everything lines up nice, now:

Re: Post Your Straight Six Pics!
I did have the thought of threading a rod so I wouldn't have to weld those stock throttle rods together. Those are 1/4-36 threads. So I ordered a die and got a piece of 1/4" rod.
This turned out to be a dismal failure. It took me an hour to get about a half inch of threads cut on that rod. I still think that would be a little cleaner than my weld job, so I'm going to try to find all-thread with those threads or maybe have a machinist make me one. I'll still have to deal with connecting this new throttle rod to the fun pedal, but that'll have to wait until I get the body back on. But, hey! One more thing scratched off the build list

Stabbed my new HEI in the other day and fired it for the first time since putting the engine in. Few more piddly parts to go and hopefully I'll be back on the road soon!

Re: Post Your Straight Six Pics!
Has anyone put a 2 bbl carb on a stock manifold using an adapter plate, rather than a 4 bbl? Would like to see pics of this.

Re: Post Your Straight Six Pics!
I'd be a little worried with the fuel filter there, if it leaks it right over the exhaust. I could be paranoid tho.
Is that a stock rad or one from another car? Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Post Your Straight Six Pics!
4.2? I would like to see a conversion build with this engine going into one of our trucks.

Pretty close to how she rolled off the line in 1968.

Re: Post Your Straight Six Pics!
Good point there. Gonna have to move it to other side? I bought the radiator off a member here and its a 4 core. He did say its for 67-72 chevy truck. Seems right to me.

Re: Post Your Straight Six Pics!
WRONG ! .
Just before the carby inlet is the preferred location for fuel filters . I've been operating vehicles since the 1960's and never had a fuel fire because of this yet . .

Re: Post Your Straight Six Pics!
Actually you're wrong. The preferred location is before the fuel pump so that it keeps the dirt out of there as well. There is already a rubber hose at that location so you are not cutting any steel lines to install the filter.
At one time, a lot of guys liked the aftermarket glass inline filters. I have seen a few of those , as far back as the 60's, with broken glass and the engines did catch on fire.

Re: Post Your Straight Six Pics!
No ;
I am not wrong ~ you are . fuel filters must never be placed before the pump . Only the cheapo aftermarket pumps ever had this foolish idea .

Re: Post Your Straight Six Pics!
I recently read up some on this and it seems if you put a filter before the pump it's a different micron size, this was for an all aftermarket fuel system tho.
As long as you have the filter between the pump and the carb what does it matter if it's not right next to the carb? Posted via Mobile Device
