Re: Bride of Young Frankenstein - 1957 Buick Super
Don, I have a spare gas tank from my Super and it look pretty good. I also have an entire 4 door parts car that I haven't taken the first part off of. 2 barrel 250 HP engine, but probably the same oil pump.

Re: Bride of Young Frankenstein - 1957 Buick Super
We've been hard at the stripping of paint and undercoat, but too boring for pics and updates.

Re: Bride of Young Frankenstein - 1957 Buick Super
Sounds too powerful, what about mounting a chainsaw engine at each wheel?

Re: Bride of Young Frankenstein - 1957 Buick Super
Somewhere in these pictures is a 57 Buick Super.
Hacked up the Trailer Hitch modified frame and headed to the dump in Young Frankie. Kept spare quarters, roof, hood, dash etc. in the garage just in case of an accident. Golly I hope I never need them!

Re: Bride of Young Frankenstein - 1957 Buick Super
Ever since we have had the white car, I had noticed the trunklid didn't fit well - too tight side to side. I wondered if it was the lid or the quarters, so when the Roadmaster trunklid did the exact same thing, I knew it was time to get the stretcher out! After a little push I realized that the welds in the lower corner had popped open. Easy enough to hold whatcha got and weld it back together. Now we have perfect seams all around.

Re: Bride of Young Frankenstein - 1957 Buick Super
After a lot of beating and banging, the Roadmaster trunklid is a lot closer to the shape it was when it left the factory back in 1957.

Re: Bride of Young Frankenstein - 1957 Buick Super
Last Chance Biz can work on the Roadie since she is leaving for COLLEGE!!! Booooo, I'm gonna miss that girl. We have sanded off most everything here and now she is all geared up for the acid etching. This will keep it from rusting any further until I can get it in epoxy primer.
Next step.... Rotisserie!

Re: Bride of Young Frankenstein - 1957 Buick Super
Got her up on the tilt-a-whirl and what a difference it makes!!! We've been chiseling the undercoating off for about a week straight now, and there would be no way to do this lying on your back. The undercoating saved this car for sure and looks pretty intact.... until you chisel a spot that started rusting from the top down and the undercoating is just hiding it. We absolutely have to get every bit of it off and start from ground zero. Andrew is helping out as the "Pixie Dust Spreader" at the Tilt-a-Whirl. (name that movie)
