Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop
I don't think anyone on the boards expects an apology for trying to get a cool set of wheels for your truck. $3,000 is more than I paid for my 1967 Camaro RS SS back in 1967. It is a BIG decision. Choose wisely, Grasshopper.
Every truck guy on the forums knows how important it is to choose the "right" wheels. They say a lot about the personality of the owner. Take me for example. I like steelies, dog dish caps and wide whites. But, I'm 62 years old. You will know when you see the right wheel. Brett makes a good point about parking it outside. Maybe we could build you a nice detached garage behind your house after we finish your deck. POP

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop
The Rushforths are nice wheels, definitely.... but pricey as well. About $775 a wheel for 20's. Reall sweet looking wheel though, and different.
It is tough choosing wheels, but I think you are going about ti right, but doing all your research and seeing what is out there. Travis |

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop
You might contact SCOTI,... but if I remember correctly,... his old TTII's were and 18/20 combo.
I can't believe a 20" TorqThrust II, up front, wouldn't fit over those brakes

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop
Maybe its the spoke design and not the diameter? His ad ( from 2008 I noticed ) mentioned the 20x8.5 fronts. (??) Ill pm him to find out.
Maybe the spokes wont clear the calipers? Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop
It's a combination of both. C5 and CTSV upgrades have the same issues. Hoop clearance should be fine with 20s, but 17-18s have issues. The McGaughys kit uses the C4 HD rotor, which has a deeper offset than the C5 to help with spoke clearance. Unfortunately, the truck caliper is huge. I'm having the same issues with my Streeters, but the Coys should fit...

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop
Sometimes ordering wheels can be frustrating. Some billet manufacturers have wheels with larger rear pads, to clear brake systems with higher than usual caliper offsets. Some can adjust the pads to wherever you need.
I think you are right, it probably didn't fit due to spoke clearance. |

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop
Glad I could help you..
(just kiddin .. ) Sigh .. Nothing wrong with Coys IMO, I may just do C5s so I know they fit and run the hub spacers, I don't have to grind anything, etc. It could still look really good.

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop
With the McGaughys BBK, you may luck out and not have to grind the hub. The issue comes only with the HD 1.25" rotors- not sure what they use for a hub, but it MIGHT clear...

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop
It's not the end of the world running the coys The good thing is it will show the brakes nicely and of course we know they look great on our trucks
But I do like all the other options mentioned....as long as you can confirm fitment I think any of them are great choices!!!

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop
Chad I didn't have to grind the hubs to fit my Coys. The McGaugheys has a considerably smaller hub than stock rotors. Mine doesn't even stick out of the wheel.

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop
Hey Chad one thing I thought of if your concerned about the fitment of billet wheels take one of your Billet Specialties Daggers and see if they fit over the calipers. I know billet specialties have a 1" mounting pad. If those fit you should be good with most billet wheels. Plus this would help me out too cause I have the same front brakes and have something up my sleeve lol

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop
Do you have a measurement from the mounting surface to the caliper face? How far does it stick out? Wish McGaughys provided a fitment template...

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop
I am going to install my drop stuff and just measure before I do anything else. Wheels or no wheels .. I want them to be right.
It will be a few weeks before I can drive it anyway as I can't mount my seats just yet. The covers are on backorder. I think I have a plan to modify the brackets and drop them about 1". My black buckets sit really nice in this truck but I think if they were about an inch lower it would be perfect. (for my height)

One of the forum members PM'ed me and said Centerline would make that Bolevard wheel in a soft lip. I am intregued .. but I want it all at ride height first to measure center bore, backspacing, caliper, etc.

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop
Some pics of the progress in he bed.
When I bought the truck it had some type of bedliner in it? Not sure what it was exactly but it was peeling up and rusty underneath it. Dad and I are in the process of removing it to scuff and repaint it black. I'm going to knock a majority of it off with a DA and 80/120 and re-epoxy, prime, etc. Just bring it back as best I can. Anything will look better than the silver flaky stuff. Post #120 has more pics. Here's where we are now. And the before picture. .. The bedsides look really good on the edges, and the black paint looks original to me. It's coming along but man this stuff is a pain.

Re: Project Grande Slam: Coley's Hot Rod Shop
It is really bad at the front edge and back pass side near the tailgate. (Baseball size holes) It's pretty rusty around the wheel well bolt holes too. ..
By far, my least favorite part of the truck. I hate even looking at it.
