I finally put the polycarbonate on my camper today. I need to pull the front and rear hold down trim pieces back off to modify a little. Once I figure out a brown material for cover I will put that on with stainless buttons I have.

Yesterday I washed, waxed, wiped down the interior with leather wipes and got it ready for the 2019-25th anniversary Hot Rod Power Tour for this Friday. 2000 mile round trip.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Washed, waxed and cleaned up the wheels. Then covered it up as we are going on holiday in it Monday and there’s rain over the weekend!

Had all these parts installed in my truck yesterday. Next month the 700R4 I bought last year will be going in as well.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

I did the 500 mile break in oil and filter change today. I'm using NAPA 10/30 with Lucas Oil additive that has the zinc in it. Also replaced the coil in the HEI, I've been having problems with the engine not wanting to start after driving a while and getting good and warm. I've replaced two modules and no luck so I'm trying a different coil.

Worked on the passenger door I bought to replace the one on the 68. This one looks to have been reskined at some time in the past.

If you have an Edelbrock carb without an insulator gasket, the fuel is probably boiling out of the bowl. I had this problem with the stock cast iron intake until I put an insulator gasket between the intake and the spacer plate.

I think I might be done with this one. Nice distraction while the K5 was back at the paint shop. Wanted to make a mini version of my 71 C10 Cheyenne SWB. There's more pictures and details in the "Our Stuff in scale" area.

Got dual exhaust put on, 2 inch pipe, 18 inch Cherry Bombs, and lucked into finding a set of slots from the cool dude I bought the truck from. Getting closer to that 70's look that I want.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Upped the initial timing from 8 to 14 degrees to make total amount 36 degrees. Much better throttle response. Need to get a tach that goes to at least 4K rpm to see when total advance is all in. I'm thinking that I need to recurve the HEI distributor

.
Pulled out the old dizzy and prepped the new one for install...

MSD 8361:

Stock blue bushing will stay there for 21* of mech timing.
Placed one light blue and one light silver spring on the mech assembly, this should bring all 21* of mech timing in just under 2500.

Will stab it in soon...

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Since I can't paint my bed because my compressor went south. Can't complain its 27 years old . Motor is a GE 5 HP made in USA . Keeping that and the pump tank is shot. But I worked on the passenger door today. Inner door is all fixed and it fits very well little more body work and I'll paint it .

Picking up the new one tomorrow at Tractor supply. Getting the 80 gallon ingersal rand .

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Changed the oil and filter replacing 10-30 with 10-40.

Replaced dimmer switch with ACDELCO D808 (Made in Taiwan-the first one i ordered didn't work).

Reconnected the wiper switch connector that has been off for 2 years now that the rain is done for the year and I won't need it.

This is fun, if it wasn't 96° out I'd do more. -BA

Yup summer finally hit. It's been really nice up to now. The AC ran for the first time yesterday. I'm hoping that that means we're going to have a cooler summer again.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Painted some of the parts needed to put the engine bay back together, but the best part was getting a 67 steering wheel in the mail. My 67 currently has a 70 style, and I can't wait to put the correct one in. It was a good deal on a "buy it now" on the auction site, and the bonus was the nice horn button with no broken tabs that came with it. Plus it has all the internals to make it go beep! Will eventually restore it in black, but will install as-is to enjoy for now. Benny likes it...

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Hello,
Replaced my after market, all aluminum radiator. Well out of warranty, but the rad shop owner checked for electrolysis but didn't see any and after discussing it with the maker, they decided to issue a new replacement!!! Also checked/cleaned the ground from the battery to rad support and installed new air cleaner element. Tommorrow's plans include servicing the rest of the truck (oil, grease, filters) and checking all of the rest of the grounding straps. If time allows, rotating the tires. Rad shop was Best Radiators in Hays ks.

Got home Saturday from the 2019 Hot Rod Power Tour. Washing the truck Sunday and noticed brake fluid between the master cylinder and booster.

Called and ordered it got it Monday and painted it and installed it today. Bleed everything and now have brakes again.

Started removing the two auxiliary tanks today to have them cleaned out if possible, I would like to save them.
Tanks have not been used in 20 years, we will see what they look like inside when they are removed...

That is one of my next projects too. I just bought 10 feet of 3/8" fuel line to connect up the three tanks. I used to use all three but I can't remember why I disconnected the saddle tanks. I do remember that the passenger side one would clog the filter regularly so I used the driver side one. I'll be watching your progress, if you post here or start a thread.
