Thanks everyone for the comments. I am surprised Korbin has not been on here to post what we learned over the weekend. Heatwave posted up the judging results from the show and his truck got 3rd in his class! We just wonder how it would have done if the interior was completed.

I'm not sure what the actual measurements are, but here is what we did:
Front has the crossmember raised 1.5" in the frame, 2.5" drop spindles and currently on bags, but will end up with 3/4T coils with at least one coil cut. The rear is a flip kit with the front hanger raised about 1" and the rear hanger is flipped so the shackel swings down instead of up like a stock truck. Guessing it is a 5/7 or 6/8 drop.

I worked on the power windows last night, got all the wiring hooked up to test before making the final connections, everything works correctly except the passenger window does not go down. With just a battery hooked across the leads from the motor, it works both up and down. Must be something in the harness that is not making connection. I will work on it more today after work.

Got the power windows working last night for both doors. It was just a connection in one of the plugs not making. Next it is onto the the hood again then the tailgate and rear bumper...

Thanks for everything guys! I have been driving it around town and hangin out with the local car crowd, needless to say none of them can believe i'm 16! Like my dad said i placed 3rd in my class which was 73-87 mild, there were 3 classes i could have been in which are 73-87 street, mild, and full custom. For me to place 3rd in my class with an unfinished truck, meant a lot. We are working to try and get the truck done before school starts in a couple weeks. The hood issue needs to be fixed along with putting together the interior. O and by the way, the trucks pretty fast! Barks the tires hard into 2nd and if you're not headed straight will get sideways. All we are missing mechanically now is the front sway bar and power steering. I love driving this truck!

No, those are off of my '65 C10. At that time we did not have the new bushings installed into the '82's upper arms. Since then, we have the regular rubber bushings installed on those are on the truck now. We just needed something on there to get the frame rolling for Turkey Drag last December.

korbin let me drive it to work today. Its a fun driver and has plenty of power for a 16 year old. Heck, I had a little fun with it today at lunch... Parked it out front so nobody would mess with it...got lots of comments on it.

We finally got the replacement rack from No Limit installed last night. We bled the air per the instructions and it all worked out good. I seam to have a little binding in the u-joints in the shaft since I decided to try to use only 2 joints, I might have to rethink that and put in a 3rd one with a support bearing. for now is seams to work ok but not perfect. I need to do more toubleshooting before I change something.

Next on the list is getting the hood back on and the latch working right. Then back to the taillights. I hooked them up before cutting wires and making good terminations and they worked correctly. I cut the wires and hooked them back up the same way (or so I thought), now they don't work correctly. Maybe tonight I can get that done....


I want to get the outside stuff done before moving on to the interior. We only have a few weeks before school starts....

Well we are not having good luck with the truck. Korbin was driving it the other day and the trans seems to be slipping and not shifting into 3rd. The convertor locks up, but did not unlock it seemed when he thought it should have. He checked the fluid, it was low so he added enough to fill it up. Drove it again and still did not seem right. he checked the fluid again today and it was not even on the dip stick. He does not see any signs of a leak under or on the underside of the truck. If he needed to add fluid, where did it go? I verified it was at the full mark a couple of weeks ago so I know that it was OK then and we have driven it quite abit since then. It does not make sense to me we needed to add more fluid without any signs of leaks. Where would the fluid go??

Korbin is not happy with the truck now and it is not what he thought it would be. I am out of town and he is having to deal with these issues on his own with only me texting him back and forth. I know we have had to make some exceptions and postpone some aspects of the truck, but we will get it to the point he wants, it is just is going to take some time to get there. These trans issues are not helping anything and the engine has what sounds like a lifter tick that comes and goes. Its just little things that make him not happy about what he has at this point. His local peers around here for the most part don't help him and raz him about having an older lowered truck. I hope he can get thru this...

Tell him to keep his head up. These little things are just part of the "new" truck bugs. If he need any help tell him to call me and I will see what I can do to help. I went thru the same sort of ribbing when I was in school and driveing a 39 chevy truck as a daily driver. I will be out of town this weekend but will be there if I can.

Keep @ it Korbin. You have accomplished alot for a young gun....

The little things on a fresh rebuild can be annoying but in the end it helps us learn something we didn't understand or forsee. I'd be proud to have built a truck like this today & even more so @ 16. You know soooo much more about what you are driving vs the buddies that heckle & didn't assemble theirs.

The only opinions that really matter about driving an 'older lowered truck' are those that understand the effort your 'team' has put forth. I still say job well done!

Kids now days are a little different. My sons hate my crew cab.......but they say if I had made it a 4wheel drive and lifted it would be great......go figure.

I teach high school shop. Most students are about half-way through grade 11 when they finally realize that their friends are idiots.

Thanks for all the support guys, he was really down about the whole thing this past week while I was out of town. He had some time to reflect on it before I got back home and he seems to have gotten past that issue. Some of it has to do with money (or the lack of) and just seems like we can't go to long without having to do something to it..

Anyway, I got back yesterday and took it out for a drive while he was at work. I warmed it up first and took an easy drive around the block to warm up the tranny. Checked the fluid level and it was full. The color is a bit dark, but not burnt looking and did not smell burnt. I took it easy and went down the road a ways. Here is what it does...under a moderate acceleration (about 1/2 throttle) is shifts thru the gears fine and even barked the tires going into 2nd. The converter locks up a little soon for me in 4th, but that could be a programming issue...I did a few stops/starts to get the truck into first and then run thru the gears again. Under very light to light throttle (1/4 or less) it goes fine thru 1st, shifts into 2nd and then when it is time to go into 3rd, it just free spins and the motor shoots up in rpm, backing off the throttle does no go to get it to go into any gear...you have to stop or manually put it into 2nd gear to get it to keep going.

What do you guys think it could be? The convertor we are using is a circle d 3200 stall. Like it said, it seems to work good under moderate acceleration, but does not work correctly under light throttle...I'm going to post this in the LS swap area to see what those guys can come up with...
