Re: Jesses' 48 PU
Guys/gals... need help identifying a part. Im close to oedering the glass. But I noticed that on the doors, the window screws on to a piece that Im missing. Ive looked at all the usual places and cant seem to find it. Not sure what its called so for description purposes im calling it "the roller bar". This piece I assume has to somehow have the plastic rollers sit inside a channel similar to the one fixed to the door panel.
I found and ordered what I thought is that part but, either I am wrong and it just sits on the roller (doubt it) or I ordered the wrong part. The puece Inordered is the lower door window sash channel. So if anyone could help me identify it and tell me where I could source a set, id really appreciate it. Ive attached the below pics to hopefully help explain what im refering to. The white plastic rollers is what I beleive sit inside a channel that screws onto the "lower window sash" which is attached to the window frame.

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
This is the part I ordered, but I am convinced its not what I need. It does have a channel on one side, but its open, doesnt secure to anything, and I dont think this floats on the rollers.

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
If you find yours, look for a set for me too. I have them for the 48, but I need them for the other truck.

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
See if this works.
https://www.lmctruck.com/1948-59-che...glass-assembly It calls it a window lift channel, item 11. It is for the 451-55.1 and a little shorter than we need.

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
Try Bills Truck Shop, 47-55 catalog, Group 13, p 42, item 13-211-47L or 13-211-47SK. I think these may be the parts you are looking for.

Thank you sir.. ill take a look shortly. Sad thing is that when taking the truck apart, neither my dad or I paid attention. Because the glass was broken we chunked it not realizing it was a seperate piece. Lesson: NEVER throw anything away...

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
About 3 weeks ago I close my drivers door and 'CLANG" inside the door. Hmmmm?
The window would crank up, but not down? So, I removed the interior door panel, and lying in the bottom of the door was that piece. I believe it is part of the 'channel' that attaches to the glass and was welded at the factory.(it is part of the window glass assembly) I really did not want to remove the window from the door to weld this back, so I was able to put it in place with vice grips, and weld it through the access hole of the door. So far so good.

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
Flying out tomorrow on a family vacation for a week. So took advantage of the day and decided to put in a little work on the truck. Installed the door seals, you guys have seen all ive done on this truck. I swear snaking these rubber seals through the track was the hardest thing ive done thus far... the rubber strip lubricant helped, but being a one man show is hard.
It looked easy so started from the bottom up but as soon as I hit the first curve on top it came to a halt.. would not budge. So after several attempts, including trying to pry the strip into the channel, I decided to cut it in half and start from the top down. Installed the front and rear seperately and the added weatherstrip glue in the center splice to put the back together. Hopefully wind noise will not be an issue...

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
I am sure that if you have a buddy to push while you pull it maybe easier. But had to get creative as a one man show. After splitting it, I managed to snake it in from the top down, then came back up to get into the upper half... have to admit that the second one went a bit faster as I had it figured out. Did use some plyers to gently tug on it as fingertips get sore pretty quick...

Re: Jesses' 48 PU
Not sure, im sure we will never find out as more than likely it will probably only be open when parked, Texas weather requires all vehicles to have AC.
