Re: Project Penicillin~ 68 crewcab build up!
Well I finally got the transmission to behave and it works well. I took it out on the freeway today at 70MPH and it did well. Now I can get some work done on some of the little problems before it goes back to the body shop to finish the paint. I was worried that the gears would be too high with the 4L80e and 3.73 gears with 35 inch tires but with the 454 it seemed to do well and seemed happy at the 1900 RPM at 70. I will be going to Reno next week for Hot August nights with the orange extended cab so if you see me say hi.

So did you get ahold of Jim @ ATO? I left you a message that I had the springs if you still needed them.

I was able to figure out the problem with the trans from someone on another forum. I must have missed the message about the springs but he bought a new set, thanks again. I will give you a call. |

Amazing work fellas.... I wish I knew how to do that sort of rust repair; Someday maybe, I gotta buy me a welder.
Keep up the good work! |

Re: Project Penicillin~ 68 crewcab build up!
Well I think I have most of the bugs worked out of the crew cab so it is going back to paint. I have about 400 miles on it now and the A/C is blowing cold but without the front side windows and no rear window it don't keep the cab cool at all.

Re: Project Penicillin~ 68 crewcab build up!
Actually I do. I have about 400 miles on the new motor and I am getting 9.6 miles to the gallon right now. This was both in town and on the highway.

Right about 6900 with the big 35" tires, less if I go with the smaller 33" tires

My 38 is a medium gray on the body and a dark gray on the fenders. It does have Chevy running gear under it.

Re: Project Penicillin~ 68 crewcab build up!
That's awesome. It almost looks a little bit green. I'm trying to pick a color for my chev. I'm leaning toward a blue color.

No green on this car now, but was green before. The third picture shows the color a little bit better.
