Different center caps between the -2 and -3 revisions. Haven't seen them in person so I don't know how noticeable the difference is. At least you've learned a valuable lesson about test-fitting wheels before mounting tires.

The caps mount differently so they might look a little different. But you should be okay otherwise. Welcome to the board. Truck in your avatar looks great!

Mounted some fatty 285/35s on my 18x9.5s after work. I love the deep dish on these wheels!

Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**

Thanks! I was building a 1971 gmc for about the last ten years while looking for a finished truck all that time. I finally found one close to what i wanted and got a good buy. The main thing i wanted to change was the wheels. As you guys know they were on backorder for a while. I'll post a new pic when i get the new wheels

the bad thing is i was worried about the rear wheel fitment and brought one of the 20x10's home and mounted it up, i just never dreamed about the bore not being right.

How did you make it to this thread without seeing the first post? Look for the bold PRICING heading.

How much longer is the buy going on? Gotta convince my wife/boss to let me do this. Economics is what I will try to persuade her with.

At this price, it's worth making her mad.

(But seriously, no idea how long this will last so you might want to pick up some flowers on the way home from work tonight.)

Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**

Got mine ordered! Thanks Sublver72 and brossow for making it happen!
Still contemplating tires, going with the 20X8.5, 20X10 combo on a 1986 SWB with a 4/6 static drop - any suggestions?

Thanks Again---

I'm going with BFG g-Force T/A KDW, 245/40 up front and 295/40 out back.

EDIT: Specifically, I thought I'd share the deal I made. I found the best price at OnlineTires.com, which for me came to abut $691 shipped for the tires mentioned above. Then I called Discount Tire Direct and they offered to beat the price at $680 shipped. Then I went to my local Discount Tire (brick and mortar store) and told them what I'd been offered by DTD. They gave me the same price: $680 out the door with tax and all. But on top of that, there's a $60 BFG/Discount Tire rebate for the next couple of weeks, bringing my total cost to $620. Unless you're local to OnlineTires.com and don't have to pay shipping, I don't think you'll find a better price than that on BFGs.

Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**

I'm still trying to purchase some of the Chrome 338's in the staggared set, 20x10's and 18x8's, with a 5x4.75 bolt pattern. There isn't an option on the website for this combo. I spoke with Sublvr on the phone and he was going to work on it but didn't have it up on the website before I had to go to work. I'll try again tommorrow.

I know. Thats why I wrote I ASSUME. LOL. I was really doing some wishful thinking and he would say that they were the -3 version.

I just got a truck load of parts from CPP and those wheels will be the next item!!

Believe me, when the -3 revision 18s are ready to ship, you won't have to wait to hear about it from someone who already received a set.

Re: Boss 338 Wheels **GROUP BUY**

So what size tires is everyone running on the 20's? Is there a thread somewhere (I tried looking) or website that has pics of the different sizes? I don't want no rubber bands. The best I could come up with is 295/40/20 and 255/40/20 but can't seem to find a close pic of how big the sidewall is. I'm not that good when it comes to tire sizes. Brossow, whats the difference between the 255/40/20 and the 245/40/20 that you got? Any pics? - Edit also my local tire guy can't get these sizes in the same brand. He told me online ordering and he could mount and balance for me. He said he checked almost all warehouses in southeast and no one has these sizes in matching brands. Any thoughts?

Here's a link to a really nice tire size calculator that will tell you exactly what the width and sidewall height of any tire is: http://www.gtsparkplugs.com/TireCalculator.html

To answer your question, the 255/40-20 is 10" wide with a 4" sidewall. The 245/40-20 is 9.65" wide with a 3.86" sidewall. You didn't ask, but the 295/40-20 is 11.6" wide with a 4.65" sidewall. Ideally I would have gone with a 295/35-20 in the rear (with a 4" sidewall) to more closely match the sidewall height up front, but that size wasn't available in the tires I wanted.

I don't have any pics of the ones I picked out today -- they had to order 'em in special and they're coming from two different locations (rears from NC and fronts from GA).

Give Discount Tire Direct a call (800-589-6789). They'll beat anyone's prices (after shipping is figured in) and have access to warehouses across the country. My local DT guy called half a dozen DT warehouses before turning up the rears for me, and for the fronts he's actually getting them from The Tire Rack (a competitor -- go figure).
