Here's my 65 I'm restoring in memory of my dad. ben I the family since 1976, and I'm 3rd owner. Will eventually be my daily driver again. Glove box door autographed by Paul LeMat, Bo Hopkins, and Candy Clark from American Grafitti. Will be 58 Cadillac Blue whenever I get to it.

Re: Let's post 60-66 SUBURBAN Only Pictures
Hey guys, first post on the forum. I have been following the site for several years but just now got around to registering. This is my 66 Suburban. Original California car. She has a 350 with a 700R4. The last pic is how I got her 2 years ago. I have done some motor and brake work but the two big things are the interior (its not outstanding but I did all of it myself) and I removed the purple windows and the pillar that splits them and went with one long glass panel. I love the open look on it now. I have some big plans left. I want swap the suspension for leaf springs all the way around with a dually rear end and use step side fenders to cover it (similar to the dually c10 that Dino did) but with 33" tires. I am currently deployed so all of this work is on hold for the near future. The first thing I have to do when I get back is pull the motor because my intent is to build an 8.1 Vortec w/ an Allison for her. I would also appreciate any advise anyone has that has swapped leaf springs under a 2wd (not sure if anyone has done it but it seems easier than doing a frame swap since I don't want it 4wd). Also, if anyone has any info on the dash I have. I am assuming it is aftermarket but couldn't find any info either way. It is a plan dash no glove box no radio or heat or ac controls. Just the recessed portion where the Gauges go.

Re: Let's post 60-66 SUBURBAN Only Pictures
I'll try t get a pic of the glove box on here in the next couple of days. How I got the autographs, was at a car show in Sedona, in 2007 at Poco Diablo Resort. It was the American Grafitti Car Show. The 3 actors were there selling merchandise, and signing autographs, and I had them sign my glove box door. I used to have all the die cast cars from the movie, autographed, but lost them when our mini storage was auctioned off last September, including the builder of the black 55 Chevy. I also met Candy Clark a few years earlier, with Bo Hopkins here in Cottonwood, as they were the Grand Marshals of the Christmas Parade. On a side note, my claim to fame that time was that I helped set up Candy Clarks cell phone while she was in our local diner, Willy's, now Bings Diner.

Re: Let's post 60-66 SUBURBAN Only Pictures
Saw this Sub at the Grand National Roadster Show in January. First Panel/Sub I've seen with shaved drip rails. Seeing it in person from all angles, I was impressed with the overall look of the body mods. Scott's Hot Rods is in Oxnard, CA.

This is a project 1964 4x4 (292 4-speed) I rescued from a pasture. Definitely some work to do but I think it will be a sharp-looking rig with some love and elbow-grease.

Re: Let's post 60-66 SUBURBAN Only Pictures
Appreciate the kind words guys. I'm mostly planning to leave it like it is. I like the "old-school" look and the simplicity of the inline 6. Get the drive train running well, add some new tall, narrow, bias-ply tires and do the body-work a bit later.
I'm guessing a carburetor upgrade would be best - any recommendations? Also would be interested in suggestions on seat restoration companies that might do a decent job of matching the original upholstery. Thanks for recommendations you could offer! |

Awesome! and I'm envious too, looking to add a 4x4 GMC Suburban to the garage one of these days. Curious about that rack, please post more photos when possible, thanks.

Re: Let's post 60-66 SUBURBAN Only Pictures
Thanks! Unfortunately I disassembled the rack to get it into my garage. The basket on top was homemade, but the crossbars look original. I'm not sure if the rack was factory or was an option? I tossed the basket because it was rough, but I kept the bars to restore them. Pretty cool!
