Denee What brand of stereo did you use? Does it take the same antenna plug in as the old style? I sure like the looks of yours. Thanks

Re: My '59 Apache

Hi Rich! I put a pic of the radio I used below. It's a single din. It doesn't have the blue tooth(regret), but I like the way it will tilt at different angles and plus a nice large screen!

a close fit!

HI! When I received my boat filler neck, it was originally much longer. I was getting kind of worried that it may not fit and I might just have to use a cork! Luckily, this worked, close, but came out pretty nice! I had a little pop up lid deal on the trap door flap, but there's no room for it now. I just need to make it to where the trap door will close level. no biggy.
omg the little things!

Same rule of thumb for finishing construction drawings....and usually you are 20% over budget at that time!

Re: My '59 Apache

The bed is done! (except for little details). It was a testy portion of the build, but with help from my friends, it was a snap!!! My husband and I took the truck for a short ride~ rode very well, brakes work great, AC works great~ no bump steer or darting down some of Houston's finest crappy roads! I'm very pleased! Even the rear axle sounded good! So I can go ahead with the parking brake system that I need to order.
Thanks! dne'

Re: My '59 Apache

looks good denee

for future reference and for others installing bed strips by themselves...
i used a towel and a sand bag to install some of the carriage bolts in my bed
the sand bag holds the square head into the bed strip so you can work underneath installing washers and nuts

Re: My '59 Apache

Or you can also use the bolts with grooves like original, Mar-K sells the strips either way.

Re: My '59 Apache

Think you might like this, daughter Jen changing the 2bbl to a 4bbl Holley on the Stang. I was busy all day at meetings so she dove in, said it like riding a bike, once she started it all came back.

Re: My '59 Apache

Hi D'ne,

Pretty late out here in L.A. but I got into re-reading your entire thread from the beginning and I couldn't stop til I'd finished it all.

(Warning: male chauvinist pig comment upcoming!) I'm truly impressed at how much work you did all by yourself. Of course there's not a single reason in the world why a woman cannot do it, it's just that at age 58, I've never seen one do it before reading your thread. Huge, HUGE congratulations.

If this sounded a bit like a "left handed" compliment, I apologize... though I have an excuse as I AM left handed, lol. Truck is looking great. I only hope mine looks as good someday. It's also encouraging to hear you got the power steering working well with the stock straight axle. PLEASE keep posting!
