Re: 68' Chevy c10
Nope Nuthin like that. lol, It's actually a wheel bearing cap for a jeep cj. I'm making a shifter knob, and that will be the lower part of it. I searched thru tons of different things to use as a shift knob, but couldnt find anything I liked. so I figured I would just make one. we'll see how that turns out.lol

Heres a few pics ! Cut hole for tach. in back tin. Painted gloss white. Mounted original tach trim ring to the front gauge tin with panel bond adhesive. Set up overnight and this will be solid. Got tired of it taking two hands to start, and my new matching set of locks showed up. so I installed the ignition.

Re: 68' Chevy c10
Yep, thats all I've been doing on the truck is the gauges..... still.......,but I'm finally done with getting everything mocked up. I still have to polish the lens, and repaint the gauge tin face.
Quote:
I ordered a new printed circuit for my gauges. I never had any problems with it, but it didnt look too good, and would have to modify it to clear the tach anyway. Heres some pics.

Re: 68' Chevy c10
Nice work dude! Can't wait to see the install. Thanks for the call today. I ditched work and spent the day in the shop. I'd enjoy talking for a few to get your take on the prep work I'm doing!

Re: 68' Chevy c10
If your taking the tach apart, rather than paint a dot on the glass, you might epoxy a black plastic dot on needle to cover the mechanism

Re: 68' Chevy c10
Thats a good idea Adam. maybe I could use a button, and just fill the holes, and make it flat on the bottom...... hmmmm.

Re: 68' Chevy c10
Not sure how an electronic tacho really works, but I dunno about adding weight to the movement?? Seems to me it might doink the calibration and / or make it a little "bouncy"?? Not sure, just thinking here! That needle can't be real heavy to begin with. A button or similar could double the weight?
