Re: Boppa's old yeller truck
First thing Wed. Guy at the Chevy dealer that does them for the local custom truck shop. He's done several lowered trucks/cars for me, always eatin' burgers at 90 on the freeway straight. Hope he has the same luck here.

Re: Boppa's old yeller truck
Weel, I just couldn't take it any more. What could I do? It was 71 degrees here today, and there it sat, all put together. So I dug it out and went to pick the Kid up from a friends place. It's a LOT smoother, even at low speeds. Ran it up through the "zone" real quick and felt nothing. Didn't get to run it on the highway, but initial reports are promising! Heater works well now, too.
Seems we got most of the Chevy Lean out of it- The obligatory QT shot, just for Vic and Lite! No, it's not slammed, but it is a good bit lower than it was this summer!

Yep, you did! Did kind of a trade deal for some sales labor for a buddy that's cleaning out a hoarder's place and had some success, so to pay me off, he gave me a brand new set of Victor torches in the shrinkwrap and a pair of brand new mid size bottles. Cost me $150 for a new cart and bottle fill. Still need to get a rosebud. Super stoked, because I've been wanting one for a looong time and was just about ready to go to the weld supply and pull the trigger. Ta-da! Mine now!

I like the stance, looks good.
Sounds like you need to buy a Ricer car just you can cut it up with your new toy. "CUTTIN' METAL WITH FIRE"

Re: Boppa's old yeller truck
Now that you have gone through the truck with a fine tooth comb and literally every nut, bolt and part is new or referbished on the truck you shouldnt have a single problem with it pretty much ever.
Man are you going to be bored! |

Re: Boppa's old yeller truck
Great news on the Yeller thread today!!!! Good to hear you've got it where you want it and let's hope it's a done deal so you can start dinkin with LBT.
Congrats on the blue tipped axe! Like you, I've wanted one since I was a baby. I've got one in the shop now but it belongs to a buddy that's just storing some stuff at my place until he gets settled.

Re: Boppa's old yeller truck
Thanks all! Progress has halted for now, it was 71 yesterday, 66 this AM, 36 now, pouring rain all day. Supposed to shovel out in the AM. Not so much Yeller to Alignment!

Re: Boppa's old yeller truck
Well, we went to alignment today, got a bunch of attention at the Chevy dealer. Tech has been doing this forever and said all the work looked good, alignment wasn't even that far off. Boppa sez straight as a string and nice and smooth, but a stiff ride. Of course it was 23 deg and dropping through the day. 17 now at 4:30 and going down.
In other news, Uncle Matt managed to badger me into entering the World of Wheels indoor car show next weeekend. So, we're scratching that off the bucket list. I've always wanted a vehicle I built in one of these shows. It wasn't built to be a show truck, but everyone says it's nice, so off we go. Hopefully we'll get a few things tidied up this weekend and get the axle seals changed, and then go have fun next weekend. If you're in the area, holler!

Re: Boppa's old yeller truck
Glad it's finally fixed. Looking great. Have fun at the show.
BTW, it was -5 F when I got home today at 5:00. Theres a chance I'll be working in NW MO next month to help a guy catch up his work load. I'll let you know if it happens. I could use a break from the weather and some KC style BBQ.

It's why we consider it t-shirt weather when it hit's the 40's around here anytime after the new year. I've seen guys get there motorcycles out and convertibles with the top down just because it was sunny and in the 40's in February. Not trying to brag or boast here. It's just the realities of living up north. Anyone from central Canada, North Dakota, parts of Montana, WI, and upper MI can tell you the same kind of stories and it's why we all get a chuckle when the newsies are going nuts in NY because it got below 0 for a bit.

Re: Boppa's old yeller truck
Sleepy Eye- Because you're passing out from Hypothermia! Oy!
Coldest I ever did was go-home day at Great Lakes Naval Hospital, North Chicago,Il. -45 ambient, -73 windchill. Dec 21, 1989. At least I didn't have to stand watch. 4 in the truck this am, but really still. It was actually kinda neat, but I wasn't waitin' around! I'll be a happy man come April.

Re: Boppa's old yeller truck
Have you SEEN Boppa? He's a large, easily angered man! I'm all about it, but You gotta ask him! He's on here about twice a day. Besides, the second gear scratch is really the fun part!

Re: Boppa's old yeller truck
I was thinking about the above, and had to chuckle. When I was a kid, everytime I left the house, he'd yell, "Don't hotrod my car!" Who knew I'd build a hotrod for him one day? Love ya, Dad.
