Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Also found this one on CL up the road from me. 69K original miles it says. Looks like a nice truck. No spid pics but looks like a legit Highlander

That 72 looks real Nice. Could use paint touch up but with that low Miles would be a awesome find. Or leave as is and clear coat to keep the patina.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Found this one surfing Craigs list. Its a C20 which is not as common as the C10 Highlanders. Although no Spid posted I'm very sure its a YG8 Promo Package Highlander with the tilt and A/C being visible.

this one is for sale in Central Indiana

This 1972 Chevrolet C10 Pickup is powered by its original 350 CID V8 engine, backed by a Turbo Hydra-matic 3-speed automatic transmission, and running to a 12 bolt rear end. The truck was just professionally repainted back to its original medium blue and white exterior color and will sure to be turning some heads. The body was in great condition prior to the repaint and still retains its original sheet metal. It sits on a great set of rally wheels for that classic original look. Inside you'll find the original Custom Deluxe interior with a comfortable bench seat covered in cloth and vinyl with plenty of room for three across seating. Options on this 1972 Chevrolet C10 Pickup for sale include: AM/FM Radio with Cassette Player, Power Brakes (front disc/rear drum), Power Steering, Seat Belts, Cloth & Vinyl Interior, Radial Tires, Rally Wheels. This truck also comes with the original owner's manual, warranty card, dealer invoice, and sales invoice. There's no reason you couldn't drive this truck every day and catch glances everywhere you go. It's getting hard to find second generation C10 pickups in this condition and will sure makes its new owner proud. $19,000 located in Indianapolis

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

I wouldn't pay $19K for that truck. Too much clearcoat, no A/C and rust on the wheels. I don't get it, if people are asking top dollar for their vehicles, shouldn't the vehicle be in top condition and highly optioned? Certainly, the original paperwork and P-o-P adds a premium to it, but not sure it warrants $19K asking price. The televised auctions and restoration shows have skewed many into thinking that ordinary run-of-the-mill trucks are worth their weight in gold.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

I have never seen a vin (7th digit #) or a SPID like that. Perhaps some of you more knowledgable members can comment about it. I find stuff like that really interesting and would love to learn something new. It has a pretty interior, for sure.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Looking at that paperwork, it was built in Oshawa, Ont. Canada, I remember seeing a thread about those having a different SPID. They built C/K trucks from 1965-1998

In 1972 they went to a 13 digit serial number. On any 72 the first C means it is a Chevy and if it's a T it's a GMC. And just for more info they went to the 17 digit serial number for the 1981 model year and they still use that today.

nice c10 non-package highlander, seems very original, maybe some waves in the bod. Even still has it's hideous PA1 caps simple paint combo, but one of my favorites (right Pete?) http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chevrolet-C-...m=151911748092

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Here is a "hidden" highlander currently on eBay. The seller calls it a SWB Custom Cheyenne but the SPID is for a loaded up LWB. It is a clean, great looking truck.

Nice looking truck. It has a short bed on it though. Maybe it's converted. Pretty clean either way.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Thanks for posting that one, Jocko . I got in touch with the owner this morning because I have never seen an Atlanta built truck with the special promo code on the SPID. I was hopeful that since it is in Asheville it was possibly built in Atlanta. It turns out that is a Fremont truck. I will keep looking. I have seen a bunch of highlanders from Atlanta, but I have never seen one that calls the promo out. If anyone has one, I would love to see it. Thanks
Mike

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

68 Crackerbox yes your truck is a Highlander as confoirmed by the 604 Gray plaid seat on your Spid, but it does not have one of the Promo Packages. If you check out post #38 in this thread it explains in detail all the variants of the Highlander trucks.
