That's awesome, I feel the same way. Walked up to some dudes at a car show with some really nice VDubs and commented on them and they looked at me like I was orange with purple hair.....really personable....not one of em said a word. I won't treat ya that way.....but you had better accept the cold one that I offer ya or there's gonna be a problem.

VW people acting like that??? That aint right.
I suspect they were younger but I could be wrong. It's nice to get young ones interested in the old cars (of any make) but sometimes they just don't get it. I said sometimes, most do.

Usually VW people are some of the friendliest.

Come see me at a show. I'm very friendly.

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

I'm a x-Vdub owner, lowered 68 with pop-out back windows and low-back buckets. And yes, they were a little younger but still, no courtesy. Ma and Pa didn't bring em up right I suppose, or just too cool for conversation. Suppose we were the last generation to feel the tickle of switches or the touch of a wide leather belt!

Make sure you put a fuel pressure test port into the supply line to the throttle body when you plumb the fuel system. Nothing there from the factory and it is a real pain to tune and troubleshoot.

Factory regulators are all over the map from 9 psi to 13 psi typically but they run the best with it on the high end. It also makes up for too much duty cycle with the ECM trying to compensate for the low fuel pressure. My 90 Z/71 was at 9 psi stock and couldn't keep up with demand after I put on headers, good exhaust and an upgraded air intake. I adjusted the regulator to bring it up to 15 psi and it gained back a bunch of missing power it lost before when it hit 100% duty cycle and went lean at only 3500 rpm.
