Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I like the way you did your saw horses, I was wondering how I could make my bed set straight when putting her back together. I saved one of the pics.

Thanks
Jake

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Took out the driveline and transmission, unhooked all the wires, cables and linkages from the motor and bell housing to the cab, unbolted the motor mounts and waiting for the engine hoist to come back (on Tuesday). Bolted up the intake, water pump, harmonic balancer and pulleys to the new crate motor that's going in.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I finished killing this 3/4 ton, it was dead before I got it so I can't feel bad. I got the cab off and stripped the bed apart , cut the frame up and ready for a scrap run.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Well, I altered both my all-original truck and suburban from stock. I can no longer say either is 100% factory correct. I added a middle set of seat belts for the little fella. He can now ride with us legally, as opposed to how we all used to ride with our folks. I still think his generation is missing out big-time by not getting to stretch out across mom and dads lap while driving home late after a visit with the grandparents.

did you attach the new belts to the original holes? Where did you get them? Im thinking of adding one to mine so 2 of my kids can ride.

But he's not missing out too much because he's getting to ride in Daddy's old truck. How many kids get to that? None. When I was a little kid in the early 90's My dad had a beat up early 70's Dodge Dart. I remember wearing the lap belt in the passenger side of the bench seat while listening to boston on the AM/FM cassette deck. Dad would always stretch out his arm and hold me back when he had to brake hard.

Interesting steering wheel, kind of a takeoff of the old original style...but way nicer.

Drove the 66 to breakfast Saturday. Didn't get anything done over the weekend that I planned. Oh well.

Chris,

That's pretty cool. You and I both have c10s and falcons. Mine's a 65 yours appears to be a 64?

I wish it was mine! That was just a couple that parked by me at breakfast. Thought it made a cool pic. The '57 the guy bought new and he drives it everywhere. I'm not sure of the year on the falcon, but I love that little car. It's a 289 4 speed car with factory a/c. Awesome ride!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Unfortunately, mine is a 200 six and it threw a rod a few weeks ago.

It was a daily driver up until then.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I`ll get more pics tomorrow, worked on it til dark, crossmembers out frame rails trimmed, tank fits like a glove, I had reliezed as I was fitting it in if I had moved it back just a quarter of an inch that it will sit down far enough that I will not have to trim the bed sill like I thought I was...cool, notched the left rail at the top for the filler and vent tube, I will start the welding tomorrow to reinforce the top rail, need to pick up a 34 x 4 inch channel for the rear crossmember replacement, need to get 10 foot of steel 3/8 fuel line and the flared tank adapter...and another thing I will have to do is change out the rear springs, I`m looking at the heavy duty 4 inch drop springs from CPP, mine wre aquired in a trade for some parts I had, so there was no cost, they are CPP 5 inch drop, but they are too low now let alone put another 120 lbs in gas back there...

Here`s the pics of tank install so far, I still have to build the rear crossmember from 2x4 seamless steel and brace the cutouts in the top rail.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Added a few more things to the engine compartment. The upper hose came yesterday. Need to get some brakes lines put on and oil sending unit hooked up and maybe even try firing it up just to hear a small rumble. Close but still oh so far.. Yes that is an EGR Valve

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Went for a nice long drive in the country this morning... therapeutic!
Also found something I want to buy, get rid of my Mazda 3, use this as my daily, whata ya think. It is minter than mint, all original, 305, auto, PS, PB, AC (works), original radio, 85,000 miles. No rust, period, anywhere!!! $12,000.00 seem like a decent price?

I think it is priced high.
But then again, I live where trucks don't rust... they are all over here.
I dunno 12K seems high

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I agree 12k seems high or maybe the owner is... haha

Today I put a new soft brake line in for the rear brakes. Hooked up the PCV Valve and power brake booster, bolted the brake rod to the pedal and installed brake lines from the Master to the valve. Too Lazy to bleed the brakes today plus I only have my 9 yo to help me.. He was gung ho though.
