Re: What did you do to your truck today!

We took the stepside bed up to my son's house since we are now ready to start getting it ready for painting.

Washed it down good, removed the tailgate and the chains.

Tomorrow we will weld in the roll pan, then see what else we have time to do.

Should make driving it more fun. It gives you a reason to clean things up on the underside of the truck too.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Well, I finally got the under side of the cab finished today.
We did alot of welding to the cab floors while it was still on the chassis, then I put it on the rotissary to finish up the bottom. Got all the pcs welded in on the bottom, seam sealed every joint and seam underneath, two coats of por 15. Now its time to lower it back down and seal/coat the floors top side. Not too far from getting the cab in epoxy primer like the front clip and bed.

Very soon it will be time to play mechanic instead of bodyman. On to the frame!!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

After I purchased my 72 GMC back in August and got it home, I discovered I had no horn. Everything else was there so I started thinking about what to buy.

I stumbled across an ebay auction last week for horns off of an 87 Cadillac. Not 1, not 2, not 3 but 4 horns. So, this afternoon I got around to mounting them.

"LOUD"

My little stepper sounds like a West bound train at a railroad crossing. Sweet!

Put the steering wheel on loosely for a "final" test fit. You might notice the little button on the dash next to the ashtray. I got sick of screwing around with the horn.
And, the hole was already there...Some P.O. got drill-happy, I guess. Now, it's a teeny horn button.

Oops! Can't see it in these pics....
Nice truck! from what I can see. What are them seats out of? and what all did you have to do to make them fit? I have a bench seat

Looks like the "new" (reclaimed from the parts stash) fuel gauge is gonna work. Can't say why....One of those deals that since you're working on so many ends of the thing,
and EVERYTHING has to work together for the proper end result, I have no idea why it works now. The suspected "pinning" was okay in the plug for the new printed circuit. New plug
(M and H). New ..tested...sensor/float (Summit). New wire to the tank (Magwa). New...tested...fuel gauge (70's GM from the stash). New Fuse Box (M &H). I dunno!

If it didn't work, I'd really be scratching my head. News at 11.

How's this for an SPI? Bet it will confuse someone down the road....
Where did you get that glovebox at, I have a original ac cab.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Nice adaptor! I was going to go the same route, 4l80e and 205, but had my transmission guy talk me out of it (that and the cost of the electronics needed). Now trying to sell the 80.

Got my frontend aligned after swapping all the brakes, drop suspension and steering. The guy did a very thorough job considering the change in stance and all

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

We cleaned and straightened my son's garage, since we are done with building my '67 swb stepper. Then we pushed in his next project.

Shyguy, looks like you and your son did an amazing job on that stepper. Can't wait to see his c10 project! Love the stripes on cowl. Did you guys have a build thread anywhere? I'm curious what the rest of it looks like

Tip: Make sure that is fully out before you put it back in the tank. Otherwise, you run the risk of having a hot dog.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!

The rear end was leaking so I pulled the cover off, cleaned it, re-painted it and re-installed. Also painted the master cyclinder since I am finally getting to drive it and it was starting to show a little rust. Lastly I fixed the shifter. I had hooked up 1st and reverse backwards. It was interesting the first time I started to pul off. Now it is time to go to the in-laws to eat. Happy Thanksgiving to all. I'll ask everyone to take a minute today and really think about what you are thankful for. Tell the people you love how much you are thankful for them!!
