Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

It's more like, "what did I do FOR my truck" today?
I covered her all up with plywood and tarps, to prevent hail damage, from the strong storm coming through.
Already lost one windshield to Mother Nature, and it's not happening again.

Removed the trim on the passenger side, welded all the holes shut and painted the bottom a nice dark grey with metal flakes and put on some 90s silverado trim. I also got half way repairing my dash. It got late where i couldnt really see when welding so i just will finish it at a later date.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

How many playing russian roulette with their non working fuel guage? Well today I finally lost. Decided to take her out to the grocery store and take the long way home and ran out of gas . Thankfully just a mile from home and the wife wasn't upset she had to bring the gas can 9:30 at night. Everything still frozen. Grateful it was just gas that was needed as well. Happy Memorial Day! Remember those who gave me my freedom! Amen

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I am. I have the two aux. tanks and need to rewire the gauge/switch. I keep a tablet in the glovebox with date/miles/gals. I was stretching it last week, plus hauling the trailer using more fuel, and she pooped out on me taking the back roads. Fortunately my son picked the phone right up, was home, and the mower can was full.

CG, that seat looks great.

I changed differential fluids in my '72 K2500. I put a couple finned aluminum covers on and used Royal Purple 75/90

I tested some SEM Camel on some door panels I have with speakers cut into them. I knew it was lighter. Definitely something else is needed to be right. I think I'll just pop these in my '72 to have sound. I'll see about getting a match for saddle mixed up.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Glad too hear I'm not the only goofball that ran out gas this past weekend.

I took some friends out for a ride in my car and made it one and a half mi. Outa town.
I never even looked at the guage, lucky the kid was on stand by and his phone wasn't dead.
now I gotta fill my mower cans too

Wife asked me why I keep gas in the cans and not the vehicles....while being a little sarcastic. Since I did the same thing on the bike a few weeks ago. I didn't realize I was already on reserve and I was on my way too get gas. But she had too rescue me that day.

Now I want a finned cover for mine. I've got to stop looking at other people's trucks.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

After stealing the license plate off it to title my freshly bought Z71, I've now stolen the plate from my yellow truck to get the '69 back on the road. But, I need tires. It's always something.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Swapped out my 20+ year old 5 blade clutch fan for a summit racing 6 blade flex fan. It's ridiculous when I can order a new fan and 2 inch spacer from summit for 60 bucks and get it the next day and then to get practically the same fan from orielys, it will be 100 bucks just for the fan and would be a 5-7 business day wait. Summit racing just never fails.

Is that a trailer fender you started out with? Very nice and a good use of space.

Thanks, yes it was and it worked out very well. I don't even know it's there when driving.

It won't be painted, the light yellow is mostly original and I like the patina look.

I'm loving the fact I don't have to polish it, wash it or anything on the paint. Wipe the windows and go. Keep the original paint is a good idea.

Started scraping 45 years of grease off the passenger side lower control arm and spindle. Anybody else notice grease, dirt and rust can do a pretty good imitation of concrete given a few decades?

I just went through that. My truck had all original ball joints, tie rod ends and shafts. 50 years of rock hard baked on grease. I used Zep oven cleaner. They came out looking like new metal.

I moved my tank to the rear but still wanted the look of having the tank original so I did this. Found everything at SO-CAL speed shop. The duct tape is temporary until I find a better solution to cover the hole.
