Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

Have you discussed partnering with anyone who makes a product requiring yours I.e. Porterbuilt,Scott's , about A. Cataloging your stuff and B. allowing you to kick in on their space for a chunk of change? A simple stand with a fender/tub combo off each side would go far, I think. Get stupid and put a matching wheel/tire combo on the base of the stand and airbag the center support and bounce the display. Beeyotchin! Either way, enjoy a trip 90% of us will never get to take, and relish the experience for what it is.

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

well we got in a few hours on Sunday, Gary started painting Porterbuilt parts, while i tackled another "while you are at it job" my frame was on the rotisseree and upside down while i was sanding it, i started looking at all the holes in the bottom frame rails.....and you know what happened next , I welded them all up and started body working all of the "worked" spots on the frame like where i shave the power steering mounts, and so on ! anyway here are all of the pictures ! The goal is to have this frame back completely painted and assembled by next SUNDAY, motor/driveline/airride !! gonna be a lloooooooong week !

Mike... I would price them very reasonable and leave it open to as many tickets as possible. $1 tickets and you would have way too many tickets purchased and your chances would suck, and a $20 is too expensive for some folks but if you did $5 tickets more people would buy them and people like myself would buy several. The one thing you really need to do is advertise it. I have been a big follower of your build and I have missed both of your last raffles. Maybe because I am a slacker but I don’t get on facebook much and I never saw you talk about it on here until it was too late.

Now... coming from a technical background and knowing a little bit about these forums, You may be able to talk to the Admins here and have them enable the "Donation System" (see attached pic below) which will put a small donation count on the front page of the forums and give people a direct link to make a donation/buy a ticket. To me.... This is what these forums are all about. You deserve to be at sema and just think all the recognition these forums would get if we, as a community, sent you there.

you could do the same thing with the trailer idea actually if you mount the sheetmetal so it can slide up and down on four pipe in pipe sliders on the frame of the trailer and use one (keep it loud no damper on the air output) bag to raise and lower just the sheetmetal part , the actuall springing on the road will be the stock rubber/torquebar of the traileraxle
another idea would be to use a slightly adapted dropmember withouth the ford rack and with a towbar welded to it , you only need some sort of trackrods and a mount for them on the dropmember to keep the wheels straight and maibe some brakeassist system
if you do it that way nate could use the same trailer to promote his products (dropmember heatercutout hinges and watever else he decides to make for our trucks that will sit under the hood )

i kindah wonder how the filler will hold up over time , the frame flexes more than a car body

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

It doesnt have much filler just on the spots you see, i had a minitruck that i smoothed the complete frame on, and it had filler from front to back with air ride and a hydraulic tilt bed and i never had any issues with it and it was a daily driver !

With today's fillers and a little sense when applying .....never really a problem..most of body fillers bad rap came because of those that applied them!!..And those that claim this car is restored with "NO fillers"??? .....well on 2nd thought I won't get started............jim

Re: 67 cheby's Dropmember build thread

seen a kids movie a long time ago where the truck had the bed with top on a sissor lift , it could lift the bed to sit higher than the cab , it could allso rotate like a merry go round
the truck in the movie was driving around with a guy in that bed feeling like he was in a tumbledryer
its in the clip around 6.00
kindah stupid but cool if you look at the fabrication of the stuff under the bed
