Re: late build thread...LOL

Wicked machine bro , you have done a sweet job. Can you tell me where to find one off those all chrome grills and head light bezels , I have hunting the net without any luck. I am planning to bag my short bed crew soon , it's on a burb chassis , so I'm looking at your methods with interest. Cheers.

Re: late build thread...LOL

The headlight bezels I bought with the black on them... Aircraft stripper takes the black off and doesn't hurt the plastic...

Re: late build thread...LOL

Just read this whole thread - HOLY inspiration. I bought a 90 Burb a while back and started on it, put it up for sale, nobody bit so I am continuing on with it. I am staying static on the drop (maybe some helper bags) and was wondering on the notch you did initially. I have a notch coming, but was wondering about the body mount that is right there. Did you do away with it? Thanks a million for taking the time to document this. Here is how mine sits now...

It is 3" spindles 2" springs and flip kit with lift shackles. It will just touch in the rear on a big dip so it needs a notch. Thanks!

OK, that is what I figured. I am hoping I can remove it, install the notch, and then bolt the mount through the notch and frame. I'm not sure how that will all line up though. It's funny how seeing someone else's hard work can motivate!!! Thanks!

Re: late build thread...LOL

think you could mount it to the side of the notch against the flat part of the frame
its only there to prevent clunking sounds when the axle is hitting the frame

dont know how big of a notch youre planning to make but a simple c notch can be made from a piece of waterpipe cut in half
if you dont want to lay awake at night worrying about the strength of the back half you could add a plate on the open side of the u of the chessis boxing it in
(make sure that you can still get at the brakelines dont burn trough the electric wiring and that sortah stuff )
not realy a need to pay through the nose for that if you have a welder and a grinder and acces to a scrap metal yard

The frame is straight back there so I think just about any straight notch is going to work. I found one from an 88-98 that a guy bought new and never installed for around half of what they cost new. I will know this weekend if it will work, but it looks like it will. I don't want to hijack this thread (any more than I already have) so the results will be posted in the 'Burban Build thread. Thanks for the information!
