Great to see Henry back to life and being used as a truck. Nice choice of wheels, too! Do you remember what size tire you are running on the front? I'm worried about clearance.

Thanks man.....pictures of your truck is what inspired the wheels. I get so many compliments on them.

Front tires are 215/75's and I have plenty of room unless I hit a bump while turning sharp.

Still plugging away at the garage.

It is now 75% sided and 75% done with soffit and fascia. Pouring some more concrete next week and then need to finish the inside before it gets cold!!

Re: 1949 Chevy 3600 into a daily driver

Coach
I am new here. I just found this thread. Thanks for all the efforts and documentation.

I got a 47 2 ton at a farm auction 68,500 original miles. Now it has a grain box and hoist that work.

Would like to turn it into a working truck for my reno company. Would like to lower it and some creature comforts.

As a Newbie. When you were talking front ends IFS ? Sid ?

I am just north of you in SK. A bit east of Regina.

Love that you kept the patina look. Besides the CLR and wax, was there any other treatment that you did to the paint? Maybe a shot of clear coat?

Truck looks good and the garage is killer. I need a garage like that myself.....but I'll make do. Hope to see more updates to the old hauler. Hope to see it haul some more stuff.

So what is the easiest way to remove the front clip on these trucks?

Coach,
What have I missed? Why do you need/want to?

I know nothing about the AD trucks but on the TF trucks its eight bolts, the upper & lower radiator hoses, and the headlight/signal light wiring.
Then...."Off With Their Heads!" lol.

I have a 1955 261 I want to freshen up. I have a dual carb Fenton intake along with some tube headers.

Clean up under the hood a bit.....

Just some fun winter projects.

Re: 1949 Chevy 3600 into a daily driver

Very cool.
There are two bolts for the radiator support and 8 bolts on either side of the clip. four are connecting the inner fender to the floor, the other four bolting the outer fender to the side cowl panel. 2 guys can lift it pretty easily.

Are you sure you don't want to start a 60-66 truck or burb for your wife?

Ha.....I am actually really looking forward to finishing up the punch list on Henry.

Once I got him driveable, the work stopped.

*Dynamat floor
*new passenger door latch
*New door glass, anti rattle stuff
*Rebuild 261
*New tranny (Undecided on which one)

A buddy of mine put a 700R4 behind the 292 in his '65 C10 and raved about it. I assume you're thinking of an automatic?

Re: 1949 Chevy 3600 into a daily driver

You have an awesome truck, Coach. I've been following your thread for a while now, I also have a 1949 chev 3600. (First project ever, just started this fall) All of the documentation and photos has helped me out a lot. I love how your truck sits right now, and I don't recall if you ever said how high off the ground your running boards are. How do they measure to the bottom of the running board to the ground?

Thanks,

Jared

Thanks Jared.

I have never measure the distance the running boards are off the ground, but the front bumper is about 7-1/2" off the ground.
