It always amazes me how something can look reasonably straight, but as soon as you put primer and 80 grit together it shows a whole other side to it. Now I am not a fan of over filling, actually I am a victim of bondo (lol), so I am careful when I tackle body damage. Given I cant get to the back side, I used a dent puller and got any spots about 90% there. Then some filling and a good bit of priming.
I also did the seam sealer while I was there, which I will say is a HUGE pain. Really wish there was (or that I bought) some stuff that sets off later. Thats a lot of surface area to cover in 10 minutes. But its done, I did some high build to get it nice and level for a base, then some medium flow and then high flow. Really wanted it to look well done, and it came out pretty good Id say.

Ordered some of the ACC floor mats from RockAuto, and they fit very well, pretty well tailored to be honest.
Came across a strange leak, at first I thought my welds on the valve cover were leaking oil past them, but it is actually the pushrod and rocker tossing oil into the breather, and running out when I am under harder acceleration. Glad I just rattle canned these covers instead of powdercoating them first, Ill add a splash shield welded in place in there to deflect the oil stream. Just the woes of a fresh full build! Installed the rear window for the time being so I can take the truck to shows and not suffocate from exhaust coming in the back window. But I do have to say, I miss that breeze lol.

Back on the street! So much fun to drive. Need to adjust the rear arms to center the wheel, and need to probably remove the inner fenders on the front, I rub a good bit.
Ordered some QA1 single adjustables as well, the KYBs on the truck are OK but would like to adjust it some to make the truck a bit more fun, also to help adjust for when I have a bit of weight in the bed for swap meets (so its not too bouncy). Also going to add a posi to the list of wants, I didnt care much for dual wheel peel when I was building the truck, but this truck does have a lot more power than I anticipated

Absolutely. Its nice to have a vehicle that is now running, makes you really want to fine tune it. I probably should have moved the battery and modified the fenders earlier, but hindsight is 20/20 right lol. Soon Ill have a shop do a full laptop tune, once I work every little bug out of it.

Thanks yall! Im very happy with how its coming out, cant wait to get actual paint on it, just too hot here to really mess with it let alone paint. Soon as this weather calms down it will be back into the booth and get some real paint on it! (the roof only that is)

Added some QA1 single adjustables, part number TS405 & TS504, and they are great. Really nice to have the ability to adjust on the fly and really dial it in.
Would you believe me if I said I feel better throttle response? Lol. It really doesnt feel like it squats too harsh under heavy throttle, it just gets to going. One thing I did need to do was space the lower one out from the mount, as the body was contacting some. I will make a spacer for this eventually, but some thick grade 8 washers did the trick for the weekend. I do also need to address the front suspension / inner wheel wells. If I really watch it, I wont hit, but any ripple in the road makes me contact the inner fender well in the front. Which is super weird, because I did a dry run with no spring and a jack, tucked the wheel all the way up and never rubbed. Oh well, I just need to get the liner out and find some way to move it up. Hate the idea of running with no fender well, but this was the life I chose!

Your truck turned out really nice. I'm curious to see what you do with the inner fenders because I also need a solution and have no good ideas.
I'm trying to figure out what's on your windshield in the last few pics.

Mechanical oil pressure gauge, the electric one offers no measurement other than high or low, so I wanted to see what the exact numbers were. Its been 98*+ here for a while so I was trying to find an oil weight that got me a swing of 20-60psi when at 195* coolant temp

Both my Chevys have had gauges taped to the windshield recently the 67 has the oil pressure gauge and the 54 Bel Air has a fuel pressure gauge (intermittent loss of fuel pressure)

As some of you have seen either on facebook or the electrical section, my Holley Sniper 1 died on me. I did a ton of diagnostic tests and determined the ECU had failed. Called Holley to verify, and this was their consensus too.
So, I was faced with a 10-week rebuild window, which would totally put me outside of the ideal time to drive this truck for me, not to mention shows. I found I could upgrade to the Sniper 2 and quickly be back on the road. Ordered Tuesday, received Saturday. When I got back from the Creed, 3 Doors Down & Finger 11 concert , I got to it and had it all done collectively in a few hours. I recorded most of the swap so it took me longer due to having to be methodical with the recording. Long story short, it runs now (again!)! The Sniper 2 has some pretty strong improvements. Throttle feel is FAR better to name one.

- it honestly is super, how should I say, inconsistent as far as failures go. I know people with OLD units that last forever, I know some who had them fail as mine did. I will say I am happy with my Sniper 2, not so happy to spend the money but I just chock that up to a pay to play mentality. Im just glad it died after a day of cruising and literally in my garage!

Information for those going with a setup similar to mine:
I was having a heck of a time finding a bracket and adjustable TV cable that would fit my application (or any carb in general). I went through a bunch of options and I wasnt satisfied with how much slack in the mount there was, and how much slack in the retainer for the housing there was. Here in East VA there is a shop called AED (Advanced Engine Design) and they are well known for their high end carbs and performance parts for the carb market. Somehow I ended up on their site and saw some offerings, decided after my redeye from CA to stop in (their work hours are same as my job, but I had the day off) and check out what they've got. Aside from the TV cable setup, I needed a carb spacer to get the rear of the throttle body's wiring harness from a fitting on the intake. After discussing with AED, they recommended a wooden one (which I have always heard of, but still find hilarious). And while I was at it I went with a heim joint throttle rod. The wood will obviously dissipate heat far better, and the added plenum volume is always welcome of course. *also PLEASE ignore that hose clamp on my PCV hose. The was purely to stop it from slipping off while driving and for some reason I never think to replace it until Im on the road.

Been a bit of some time! Ive been driving the truck a ton, nearly every day. Went to the Patina Party in Maryland, and lost a starter at the show. Broke down as I was leaving. Luckily, I had a friend at that show with a local shop and lift (also named Kyle) and a buddy Matt had a trailer to get it there. Ran to AutoZone and picked up a HUGE starter. My mini starter was virtually new. I will never buy one of those again, its the 5th or 6th to die on me across a few vehicles, same part.
Thankful to have had them. They were instrumental in me getting home from what I perceived as virtually nowhere.

A few weeks back I decided I was going to go to the Triple Crown Of Rodding in Nashville Tennessee. Looking at the truck, I felt unfulfilled to have the roof in just burnt primer from the sun. So, I contacted my friend who owns a local paint shop here, ColorWorks Unlimited. Asked him if I were to get the roof good and primered, would he be willing to help me get the roof done with a base clear. He was all about the time crunch, excited to help. We ended up finishing it off at 11PM the night before I left. I literally came and picked it up just outside the paint booth the next morning at 9:30AM and hit the road to TN.
I encountered a failure before paint, my high build was not spraying good, I wasnt able to keep constant distance from the roof and ended up being too far out, and it was dry spraying. But thats all part of it, wet sanded back down and re-primed, and headed to his booth. More pics to follow (as usual).
