Re: 1987 GMC V1500 Sierra Classic LS swap/build
Hey NB,
Just wanted to chime in and say I have been watching both your threads and they've both been great. I'm stalling on my own project right now because our -30 winter just got over and I've got a bunch of side hustles I need to finish before I can start sneaking off to the garage to put stuff together. Also, as much as I love and respect people who choose to keep things original its good to see others not afraid to branch out and try new stuff. The 01 dash and column in the square is my favorite bit so far and I can't wait to see how it turns out. I spent much of last week trying to find more info on interior swaps that used a BCM, but there isn't actually that much out there. Seems wiring scares a lot of people and adding new tech to an old truck is the opposite of what many want. My next project I want to be a square with the full interior and drivetrain of something very modern, like a 08 or better sierra denali or escalade. AWD might be cool, heated seats/wheel, modern gauges, column, etc. and it all should look basically factory, I don't want it to look like a hackjob. also, I did find a company that makes BCM like modules that work together, so you can use all new controls, or do controls from an ipad or something. You can then use the original square hardware where needed without having to refab everything to fit modern parts. Things like door window regulators, locks, wipers and possibly a few other odds and ends are really hard to adapt over. http://infinitybox.com/restoration-and-performance/ Spendy though. I'd probably need the 20 circuit harness, plus I am sure several of the other modules, making wiring 2-3k with this system. Pretty nice though. |

Re: 1987 GMC V1500 Sierra Classic LS swap/build
I haven't given up on this truck yet. I have been trying to finish my crew cab build because I just fell in love with it.
I think the plans for this truck has evolved. I think I want to body swap it on newer frame 99-06 4x4 as well as make it a short bed. Should be done by the time my son is ready to drive. He is only 3 right now lol!! You are correct about too many projects, with this, crew cab, my "new" duramax, my "new" CTS-V and trying to start up a small business I stay pretty darn busy as far as projects are concerned

I can’t seem to see the pictures for this build. Seems there is a problem with PhotoBucket???
Thanks, Rob Posted via Mobile Device |

You are correct. Photobucket screwed us all. Freaking holding our pictures hostage.

PhotoBucket is the problem?
Whew! I thought that it was my photobucket account was just messed up. So, it’s messed up for everyone... ok. Any chance you posted your build anywhere else? I found your comments to Duramax... and came over here to find your build. I’d like to do something similar to y’all are doing. Thanks, Rob Posted via Mobile Device |

Yeah it is the problem. I don't plan on paying them either.
You can find me on facebook under cutbros. Anything specific you were wanting information on?

Re: 1987 GMC V1500 Sierra Classic LS swap/build
I’m looking for a donor truck now... I have been thinking about the body to frame swap for a long time. Have been told that it would work... then saw an ‘86 on YouTube that had Tahoe drivetrain. If you have done the research on the body mounts, I’d love to see anything that you’ve come up with.
I have walked away from the Facebook world. Thank you, Rob Posted via Mobile Device |

Several have done the swap. Best thing I can tell you is to get the 2 vehicles in front of you and start measuring.

I would also entertain finding a squarebody crewcab and swapping the it onto a 2500HD frame. JUST for fun!!!

Depending on your browser you can get a plugin that fixes the photobucket links. this one works for firefox
