Project stalled while I waited for a buyer....after several possibilities but no firm commitments I'm going to get back to working on it. Going to get it over to the body shop this week to mitigate the last rust

Then will start sanding/prep for paint. Hoping I can find a buyer before paint but if not, I'm thinking a nice "resale" red...any opinions on that? Any guesses/opinions on a "good deal" price for it when painted?

I'll take curtain # 3 Monte! Considering you have a warehouse of parts at your disposal and your paint/body man sounds professional - I'd say $7,500 give or take a few. This isn't a frame-off is it?

I had to look through this thread since you've been checking in on mine. If your going to paint it to sell you know how I feel about rustoleum satin black. You could do the whole truck for about $40. Buy it in the quart cans, or gallons if they have them and spray it with a gun. That's how I did the bike and the firewall in my build. The only drawback is that it takes forever to dry. You can touch it the next day, but it needs at least a week or longer to really be handled.

No not a frame off. But could be if I get a buyer wanting it it is going to be a nice solid driver with nice paint as I currently plan it. Thinking around that price depending on what options I finish it with.

I love that look but since I have a body shop pro willing to paint it in his booth at a good deal I am going to take advantage of that awesome opportunity to make it a really nice driver for someone.

The 69 Chevy Garnet Red is a great color to go with. Good appeal to even people who don't normally like red.

Here is a friends car in that color for those who don't know which red I am referring to. It gets brighter in direct sunlight and looks almost black at night.

I definitely will consider that. I plan on a black interior and the bedliner will be black and I like how that looks with the black stripes....

Glenn...the guy who will be painting the truck....mentioned hugger orange tonight...

I'm thinking about it...

I have the paint divider on the cab so I could do a white roof and white grill (68) and white lettering in the tailgate...

Think that would look really sharp with a black interior and I could paint the engine orange like I planned and it would look good there as well....

Opinions?

I had a 69 Z/28 clone that was hugger orange with white stripes, a white vinyl roof and the white interior. It looked really sharp and got a whole lot of attention. That could be good for a truck you are trying to sell.

Black accents and interior could look good with it as well.

I would definitely do a little extra if this were my truck but I'm building it to sell and need to think cheap Not skimping on the build but not spending extras on things like custom interior.

Well..... I'm backing off the white now. He's telling me once we get the rust fixed he thinks the body is straight enough that we can do the sanding, blocking, and painting in a weekend... If we do two tone that'll add a lot of time and push it into his normal work week which I don't want to do...

Nice to see the 307 go away I think it would have been a detraction from the truck vs. a good running 350.

I say 69 Chevy Garnet Red. Great color that gets red lovers pulled in and gets those buyers who really don't care for bright red too. Subdued but still gets your attention and looks amazing.

Thanks. I'll look for some trucks in that color. My wife really wants me to paint it ferarri red...she was looking on google tonight trying to help me find a nice color and that's her first choice

The 307 didn't bother me...because I drove the truck and knew it was a good engine and cruised fine at 65-70 and got good gas mileage....

...but I can see from the responses here and other things I've read online that most/all prefer a nice 350 over a 307 any day... I do too but would have left the 307 in it if I could afford to keep it as a driver right now...

I think that was one thing hurting my potential sales....going to re-do my advertisement with the 350 and the 68 front end and see if I get any better response....

i realy like orange , i aspecially like the 2002 prowler orange its more of a metallic coppertone that turns yellow in the light


for the interiour i agree black is nice , it actually fits about any colour wish would make respraying it in the future a bit eazier , personally i would go for a dark tan interiour on orange maibe do some extra colour in the stitching to make to pop a bit more

i complete 2 of the trucks intoo running fashion one custom and one basicly stock the thirth will be sacrificed for parts

I am back and forth on power steering and brakes....as of now it will be radio delete 3spd truck with stock wheels, hubcaps, and stock height with new paint...trying to decide between a rubber floor mat I have vs carpet (black either way) already have a seat cover for the bench and some nice black belts. Nice stock wheel. Also debating keeping the converted column (3ott) or putting in the CPP tilt I have...

It's either going to be a basic truck with the 3ott column, black mat, and no ps or brakes....

Or, I'm going to do the tilt, carpet, power steering, and power brakes....also will add a tach dash if I do that.

That's about 1000 worth of parts that I already have...but can sell...

Do you think that would add more than 1000 worth of value to the truck to add all of those items? To me personally I know what all that's worth and would price the truck 1500 higher (materials and my labor) and "think" it would sell faster with those options...

.... it's still a longbed with a 307 and 3spd in the floor and in this market they don't seem to be selling for much for even really nice ones. There's one near me that's been on the market for months....started off asking 11K and now is asking 7 and it's still sitting...I think it's the look of the paint job (blue with a silver stripe down low not factory looking) but still is a nicely painted restored truck that's not selling for 7K...

my guess is that whoever buys it will use it as a fancy worktruck , maibe some billboard for his company but still being put to work
i would go for the rubber mats as they clean out eazier
it might be an idea to advertise it before putting the paint on and let the new owner know in the add that they can decide on the colour that will be included in the purchaseprice (payed in advance offcourse )that way they could get it allready in de company colours

it might give you the edge against the others selling their trucks

Power brakes definately. Most cars now a days can stop much faster than they did in the 60's and 70's. You might wish you had them when someone bows up in front of you with a late model car/truck. .02

I think the PS & PB are a plus, the 3 on the tree would be better than the floor and most unless they build them don't know what the after market column costs. I like the idea of the new owner picking his own color that could be the deal maker because we all have our own taste and would make them feel like they had a part in the build. My .02

Sounds like power brakes are a must and I do agree...plus I have several options to choose from

I have been trying to give people the option to choose their own color...might talk to the body shop to see if we can get it to the sealer stage in paint and then I'll try again for a couple weeks...

I would go with power steering too. No need to load it up with tilt & tach on a 307 column shift truck. Just PS & PB will help keep the cost down and increase the trucks appeal to more buyers.

Man...I got to thinking on this project and what you could build for someone (I was even thinking for me....BUT...that won't happen right now!!!).....base on your ad, you could build a swb truck for about $12k....folks you just can't build them that cheap!!!....I hope someone takes you up on this offer
