And I need to notch the top of the frame to make it work? And this will fit any 73-87 C-10 or C-20 p/s box?
If so, I will take one for my 62 C-10.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

Yes you will need to notch the top flange of the frame as shown in the links. All '68-'86 C series (C10,20&30) and '87-'91 R (R10,20&30) series steering boxes are interchangeable.

I will send you a PM with ordering and payment info.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

Captain I got home from vacation yesterday at 6pm. I had the plate and stem/flange installed by 830. Happy to say my 64 is now officially a roller. Great product with clear instructions. Thanks!

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

I have a 1963 Chevy C10 inline 6 2 wheel drive half ton truck I am changing the original axles to 5 lug being drilled out at a machine shop I'm changing the rear axle bearings and want to know if there is a space between the bearing and Axle or should I put a one piece Timken saver bearing I also need your power steering adapter for a Saginaw rotary valve power steering gear box and I am also considering a 7-inch dual diaphragm power brake set up any thoughts on that conversion

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

Sorry but I don't quite understand your axle bearing question, but it sounds like your axles may be worn out? If so, I wouldn't bother spending the money to have them plugged and redrilled.

I have to question why you want to use such a small diameter brake booster.

I am just about out of time to build any more orders before I leave on vacation on the 8th thru the 25th. I would have to receive your payment by the end of tomorrow to be able to build and ship by Friday.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

Hey Cap,

I just bought a 64 service truck with manual steering and I want to add power steering to it. Currently it has a 4 speed on the floor so the steering column does not have a shifter lever. I'm going to install a 700r4 behind the current 250 so I will have to swap steering columns. Tell me what I need to accomplish this

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

I have never installed a 700R4, so I do not have any firsthand experience, just what I have read. If you do not want a floor shifter, then yes you will have to install a steering column that has a column shift for an auto trans. The biggest issue if, if your 250 has an original style carb, you will have to fabricate most everything to properly setup your TV cable. If your 250 happens to have a 4bbl carb, then you just need to purchase the TV kit from Bowtie Overdrives.

For the power steering, you will need one of my steering box adapter plates to mount the box to the frame. The difficult part of this, is finding the power steering pump, brackets and pulleys for a 250 I6. Factory brackets are getting harder to find all the time. It is much easier to simply purchase the nice aftermarket brackets made and sold by Davis Racing on ebay.

I won't be able to weld up a steering box adapter plate and ship it until I get back from vacation on the 25th.

Thanks, I'm in no hurry. I knew most of that, but wasn't sure about how to adapt the TV cable to the original carb. Thanks for bringing that situation to my attention.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

Getting the TV cable connected and the geometry correct is going to be the biggest hurdle. Someone on here posted the beginnings of their attempt at it, but I don't recall seeing an end result. I would contact Bowtie Overdrives and see if they have anything that might help with what you need to accomplish.

I don't feel it is necessary for a 2 wheel drive truck. I've had this same plate on my '66 Suburban since 1993 and put just over 120,000 miles on it with no issues. When I've installed these, I stitch weld the plate to the frame for a little added strength. This isn't absolutely necessary though, since there are four bolts securing it to the frame. The price for this bracket is $55.00 plus $6.30 for shipping in the USA. Included is the bracket as shown and four grade 8 bolts and lock washers. To place an order and for payment information either send me a PM here on the forum or email me at captainfab454@hotmail dot com

For an additional part to go with this adapter plate, see page 6, posts #126 and #137

These adapter plates can also be used on the K series frames that didn't come from the factory with power steering.

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

If im installing 1972 pwr steering box and complete c10 front crossmember swap onto a 66c20 would i still need this bracket? Also might be installing automatic steering colum down the road if i ditch the 5 spd for auto but as of now to get the pwr steering with stock 66 3 speed tree column do i need this braket or any other things you carry or makevto complete this swap? Never swaped in pwr steering into none of my 60-66 trucks but my damaged elbow will love it lol. Thanks for any help or answers and your products look amazing and good reviews. Also do you sell a small notch for back? Was going to just use half piece of pipe and steel plate when i install the 5 lug 72c10 12 bolt rear inplace of the dana 8 lug. Thnks

Re: Power Steering Adapter Plates

Yes you will still need an adapter plate. The '68-'86 C series and '87-'91 R series steering boxes are all basically the same and are interchangeable. Needing the plate has nothing to do with the steering box and everything to do with the frame it is to be installed on.

If you are upgrading to power brakes, you might consider one of my brake booster brackets.

No I do not make any rear frame notches. There are already many, many, many people that do.

If you need just the '63-'66 steering box adapter plate and not the tube and flange and if you need a standard '63-'66 booster bracket in bare steel, with shipping the total is $122.35. Let me know.
