Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

Left early Friday afternoon and got some work done on the tailgate I picked up last weekend.

Ready for paint today.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

I started on the grill and got it sanded and in primer...

Trying to decide what colour to go with this...

Initially thought silver, but then kind or rethought black with yellow bow tie.

I further thought if I went the black/yellow combo I would go to our local sign shop and have them cut me a reflective yellow decal to put in.

What do you folks think?

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

I'm a big fan of yellow and love the shade you're using, but it does need some contrast to keep it from being too much. I'd do the grill just like in this pic. If it were me, GM rally silver wheel paint on the grill, the yellow you're using in the yellow shown here, and gloss black where it is black now. Maybe outline the black bowtie in the grill with yellow to accent it and add some detail.

Brushed the floor with thinned out Tremclad, self levels well. Will need a second coat though.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

Tailgate done... Time to start assembling and getting this ready for the road.

I have ordered new weatherstrip for the doors/windows, new door handles, locks and some other accessories. Hope they arrive soon. Get the doors put back together and the glass back in.

Wire up some lights.

Getting closer to the fun stuff. I am looking forward to putting the interior back in the truck.

Thanks... I have until May to get it finished. Although with the crazy weather we have been have here some days have looked tempting to take it for a whirl down the street.

Re: 1981 Chevrolet C50 Pick-up Conversion

Got some work done after dinner. Got my wiring hooked up and ready to be hooked up. I will order new tail lights tomorrow.

I also got my grill painted up. I think it turned out good. I will let it harden up and I may do some detail painting on it.
