Re: And so it begins................

Dude, there weren't any 5.3's when I was in high school. There wasn't any hotrods running around with fuel injection or drop spindles or lights making the pavement glow pink etc etc etc.

I'm gonna rebuild the big block with some noise and shake and put some more rake in the rear end with some giant chrome traction bars between some scary lookin mud tires.

Thanks for the interest though.

Give me your trucks wheels and I'll snug them on the Satellite and max out the air shocks so you can get a video of it turning them .

I put that pic as my avatar waiting for some goober to mention it. Now I can change it. And for the record, I had colored bulbs in my high school truck too. They just weren't "purple".

I am thinking of switching to the green ones though to restore my manhood.

Well I'm not all that partial to blue but you think that would be more masculine than green huh? I was hoping the purple bulbs would add an eerie touch to the interior since the truck is green and those two colors usually do that. I just didn't know they were going to look pink when I turned the lights on. Either way, the purple bulbs are headed south.

You smokin crack? When I get through with the 402 there won't be any 5.3's keeping up with me and for that matter they don't run any better than the 355 I'll be dropping in there temporarily either unless someone has dropped some serious money into upgrades. The only advantage a 5.3 would have is fuel mileage if I kept it fuel injected and maybe longevity and that is not a concern for my weekend hotrodding. Besides, my high school truck only got about 9 miles to the gallon too.

I will say this Gage, if I intended this truck to be a daily driver then you would probably be on the right track.

The purple ones gave it an eerie look in the pic alright. I do think the green would work well with the color of the truck though.

Re: And so it begins................

Well I have a couple of mechanical issues to deal with. The rear brakes are dumping their fluid all over Oklahoma and the proportioning valve is working overtime. I've been meaning to do something about it but the weather has not been friendly. Now I have a new point of interest. I was cruising the truck again today and on my way back to Norman I noticed that I heard a clang when I lightly pushed on the throttle. I lifted and pressed on it again several times and it sounded pretty bad. I don't hear it going into or out of gear so I don't know if it's a u-joint or carrier bearing or something else. It's probably a result of the drag racing we did on the way to Neils house Saturday. Why is that old trucks, big motors, and get togethers always result in new parts? I'm perplexed.
