Nope I sold the old Saginaw to Brad, and I don't think he ever used it lol.

I have missed the heater a couple times, but mainly for the defrost function. This will be the one and only time I remove the heater out of a street car

All summer with a '90 Firebird: No AC, dark interior, no tint, hatch back and T-Tops. Just don't get stuck in heavy traffic and your fine. Better with the CST10 as it's got plenty of things to open to vent air too.

A/C is for sissies.

Thanks man, I personally like the chrome wheels. Maybe after the wheels get scraped/chipped they can get a powdercoating.

Oh and old blue, you were asking about my trans, if you can scrape the cash together, you can score a used Hurst shifter to convert that column shift to a floor shift, thats what i did in my '62, and it works very well, and the big shiny hurst stick looks cool

I work outside....drive a semi dark blue truck...no air no heat. Hell if I had AC during the summer I might freeze and catch cold!!

What line of work you in Kelly? I see it says "dirt dobber"..... im guessing contractor. We run a construction company and I play in the dirt alot

I own and operate Art Deck-O. I build decks, pergolas and fences primarily. Right now we are building an artist's studio that looks like a general store from the old west. yeah a big part of the job is moving dirt out of holes and suchm but the story is better than that.

The names come from an incident back in December of 2007. I was forced to have my engine rebuilt. While it was out, I had three days to get the frame cleaned up and a few coats of paint on everything.

My driveway is dirt and grass. Our house is 109 years old and the previous owners [only two before us] never paved it. So my buddy calls and asks what I am doing and I tell him I am laying in the dirt scraping off the gunk from the crossmember. So he gets on our local club's forum and declares me the 'dirt dobber'. He said only I would even consider doing this work in the dirt.

The next night, it rained. It was a lite rain but wet all the same. I was out there in 34* weather with my oven cleaner and my power washer doing the final cleanup...since I never work in the rain, he coined the second term 'rainman' cause he thought my brain was obviously operating in a diminished capacity.

The tinkerer came from me always tinkerin' with my truck...changin' things constantly over the last 3 years since I bought it. Now that I have a solid plan, this one was retired today.

looks like the compression ratio of that cylinder will still be slightly lower. I'm speaking specifically of the grinding above the spark plug. But he'd have had to mill off quite a bit to clean it up.

Weren't you going to get some L92 heads later anyway...or am I thinking of another build?

These are the L92's brotha.... I questioned the grinding and the machinist assures me it will be fine...... we hope. The resurface only took 3 thousandths off

Ya I was pleasantly surprised that the machine work only cost 100 bucks. That mean I got a set of amazing aluminum heads for $650 including the trade value of the old 317's, some cash thrown in, and the machine/work

Oh, I didn't notice the chambers as the L92's. If I'd have seen the intake ports in the pics, I'd have surely known they weren't the 317's.
Only .003 on the resurface? Wow...that guy is precise. I used to put new guides and seats in, as well as resurface heads (amongst other things) when I was a kid... and am thinking that .003 is almost not worth setting up the bench for. I'd guess most machinist would go .005 or maybe even as much as .008 to .010 on their 1st pass! I probably would have!

Well thats what he told me. Who knows how much he really took off? I was contemplating having them milled to bump the comp. ratio, but decided against the extra hassle and expense, not to mention knowing if I could pull it off and still have useable heads

Think of it this way, atleast at idle that one cylinder being a bit lower comp will give it a bit of a cam's sound..

My firebird sounded cam'd when it was running on 5 cylinders one day.

Knocked out the old cam bearing and pounded some new ones in there...... quite the undertaking with all the rotating assembly in place. Slid the cam in and got the new double roller timing gear all situated. It's all downhill from here
