Re: Show us your projects
I can't remember is I posted pictures of my 53 GMC Suburban. I have had it for about a year. It will have disc brakes on the original straight axle, power steering, electric wipers, and an LS motor. This is going to be our traveling vehicle. We will drive it around town and on long trips.

Jspeter51
I see that the price on the window was $500. Did you get it for that? Seems like a good deal if you did. I would like to get a burb in the next few years for my next project. Good luck Marc

Re: Show us your projects
@youngrodder I did not pay $500... I actually got it for less. The guy I got it from was unloading all of his projects per his wife, and since I had shown interest in the Burb, i was his first stop. I also have a bit of a line on another one as of yesterday, so we will see how that goes. BTW, I love your truck!!!!
@99tolife I totally agree!!! Seems like there arent as many of us, but they (along with panels and the canopy express) are the coolest vehicles from that period IMO. |

Re: Show us your projects
Suburbans or anything different is really cool, imo. I mean, most of us are building older stuff because we're can't get with the plain new stuff, so it just takes it further.
With the right stance, some clean up and a late model drivetrain and a couple creature comforts, should be super cool! |

Re: Show us your projects
These were taken about 10 years ago. This is my first car, I got it in 1990. Bought it from the original owner for $300. It had a 250/3spd on the column. Now it has a 327 with a 92 V8 Camaro T5, 4wheel disc brakes and a few other unmentionables .

Changing my look to a 50's style
Changing the look to include Moon Discs, skirts, chrome grill and a 1957 Cadillac (Dagmar) bumper.
Used to look like this... Now it looks like this... Adding this grill... Installing this bumper if I can figure out how to mount it... |

Wow oh wow, that is a nose changer of a Caddy bumper, really gives it another look altogether. Kind of like it.

Re: Show us your projects
I'd go with the first pic plus the chrome grill added.
All look great though, just taste differences. |

Re: Show us your projects
Some updates since these pics were taken. Could not get the 4GC carb to run right so I put on an Edelbrock EPS intake and 500 CFM carb, installed a Pertronix kit and coil and changed the front wheels to 15X7 and the tires to 205-70 R15. Took my first long road trip last week end to Loveland and Windsor. 70 MPH was 2200 RPM. Gets a little hot in traffic so I added an electric pusher fan. Original post and pics on page 15.
