Re: Rustbuket 67 build "Georgia"
Nice work on the front end. I'm taking notes for a future suspension upgrade on mine. Get the wrench in little man's hands ASAP.

Re: Rustbuket 67 build "Georgia"
The contrasting components look great. This is exactly where I'm at with my truck (re-assembly of front suspension), so this is the motivation I've been needing to get back to work on mine.

Well since the last pics I realized something was wrong up front because the upper control arms contacted the spindle when the chassis was on jack stands and started a thread over in the suspension forum. Most said it is common to have to trim the upper control arm to eliminate the interference so that is what I did. I took about .25" off the control arm. I only needed maybe 1/16" or so but wanted to make sure there was no interference. Int the previous pics you can see the wad of blue tape at the contact point and in my first pic of this post this is how the fit now, much better! I got some original rotors from my homeboy suspect since he went with big brakes. Thanks again buddy! Had them turned at Oreilley then sandblasted, painted with VHT silver, packed the existing Timken bearings and slapped in some new seals. Also sandblasted the steering gear box and idler arm bracket. PS a smart guy would sandblast the rotors before having them machined.....

Re: Rustbuket 67 build "Georgia"
I replaced the wheel studs also. Put the rotors on and put the front wheels with bald tires on
I have to replace some hardware and wait for my new idler arm and pitman arm to arrive.. But it is now a ROLLER !! Here are some "roller" pics

Re: Rustbuket 67 build "Georgia"
I have been playing around with the rear gas tank. Trying to figure a better way to mount it without notching the upper frame rail for the side fill. This is why the rear frame crossmember is removed in the pics. I think I finally decided to just notch the rail and mount it underneath. I will form up a notch out of 3/16 on Friday and get to working on mounting the tank for the last time...
The stance is great so far but I have a lot of weight to add before I see the real ride height. Looking about right though

Re: Rustbuket 67 build "Georgia"
It's almost a truck again! When I mentioned this before you were planning aftermarket arms, but if you didn't already do it, it isn't too late to do the caster mod. This is one of the best things I did for my truck and it will only take about an hour from where you are now. I don't even think you'll hurt the powdercoat.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=501241 I wouldn't be pushin this on you if I wasn't a huge fan of the mod and of your build!

I cut a piece of 3/16 and formed the ends up 45* and trimmed it down a bit since this pic. Should have this finished up this weekend. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Rustbuket 67 build "Georgia"
You've come a long way since I last checked your thread. Looks good, really like the silver control arms, and I'll be copying you on that filler notch most likely! Great job.
