Re: Maggie's Custom

Super nice truck guys, I just went back and read the whole thread again. You mentioned that you had a few dents removed from the door, can you tell how you went about that. And do you have any pics of the door after they were removed. I have a 62 with a big dent in the door I would like to remove also. Again great job. Thanks

Re: Maggie's Custom

I took the truck to a PDR guy who knows that the metal is thicker and that it wouldn't be perfect. I can't take credit for it. The pics I have are not very good, but looked just like your truck does now!! I suggest calling some local PDR guys and find one that is willing to help!!
Thanks

Thanks for tip on the PDR idea. I had a guy come out last weekend and remove the basket ball size dent out the door. Best $60 I've ever spent. Thanks again.

Re: Maggie's Custom

PDR : paintless dent removal. A vendor normally sourced through Auto dealers as a way of removing door dings etc on trade in cars to avoid costly body shop repairs. Contact your local Chevy Dealer and ask for the used car reconditioning manager, they will have a phone number. The PDR guys are mobile and usually like to meet at the dealers they are doing work with. If it's going to take several hours, walk into the service department and get a ride from the courtesy van driver to lunch and have him/her pick you back up.

Re: Maggie's Custom

A little update on her truck, I put a new manuel steering box on and it drives a ton better, still gonna do power steering but this was quick and fast (her box was real bad). Saturday I put in a used 700R4 and it turned out to be junk, so I had to buy another core (it was that bad) he finished rebuilding it last night and we are picking it up today, putting it in tonight and if all goes well she and I will drive it down to the Lone Star Throwdown Friday. A little 5 hour road trip! Got moved at work and I've been super busy so not much time to work on anything or many updates.

Re: Maggie's Custom

Man, you are a busy boy. I know what it's like to do the R&R on a 700r4 when it turns out to be junk. That sucks, especially after you've spent all the money on seals and tranny fluid and you're always guaranteed to make a huge mess.

Hope you make the Roundup, you deserve to have fun after what you've gone through.

Love the truck, it's one of my favorites.

I hope it goes well. I'd love to check this one out in person (I missed it @ the last show on your side of town but told my buddy to look for it).

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Hope you guys have a blast! I say this every year BUT maybe next year I'll be able to drive up there too! I'm sure the new tranny will be nice for the road trip.

Re: Maggie's Custom

Got to see 'Maggie's Custom' in person @ LST over the weekend. Truck sits great. The detail work was impressive. The builders were a super nice team & I enjoyed discussing some of the build details w/them.

Congrats!

Re: Maggie's Custom

J.D.

Bro this build is one of my favorites. Because I can build mine following this build. I would love to do a porter build. However, that wont happen unless my job gives me a 10K bonus or I win some lotto money lol.

Questions:
Sway bar and panhard bar. Where did you get those?
What size bags did you use up front and rear? 7" , 8"? 2600's?
Plate used on lower controll arms. Was it 1/4" Plate?
Where did you get the location/measurement to weld your bag plates on the link bars?

Re: Maggie's Custom

Sway bar and brackets came from CPP, the pan hard rod is a bolt in from Porterbuilt. Bags are Slam Specialty 7. I would go 6. All the plating to build the control arms is 3/16. As far as bag placement I went as far rearward I could go. Again, a 6 in bag would work better in my opinion. Hit me up if you have anymore questions. I got moved around at work and have been super busy!! Sorry for not keeping up with the page but I'll be posting updates soon enough. We plan on going to the Lone Star Roundup with it in a few weeks !!

Re: Maggie's Custom

So your saying use 6" bags up front and in the rear?
whats CCP?

Can you tell me why a 6" will be better? Is it for clearance?
