Finally read through this whole thread to see how Homer got to be where he is. Seems like more of an odyssey than any of his prior travels! I thought you had just made a standard stepper bed say "chevivrolet" and I still thought it was cool. Now it's awesome. Which differential do you have on the truck?

Thanks slick copper. I already painted the bolts body color as well. got the trim out being polished as we speak.

Elliot949, Thanks man. Yeah it would look cool towing Raymond. I got a 67 Nova altered wheelbase in the alternate tinkerings threads that would look great being towed to the drags.

unbrokenchain. Thanks man. yeah ole Homer has been getting the business for the last 9 months. I bought a 79 1 ton dually chassis and pulled the front crossmember and rear end out and installed them in Homer. 411 gears are better than the 537 it had originally. The rear end is a 14 bolt full floater.

Car started life as a 4 door. Now it has two short doors, 496, glide/brake, 456 9 inch w-spool, single seat in the center of the car back where the back seat was.

Yeah, I think it will look cool being towed by Homer. Maybe paint it the same color?

I have the 63 C10 prostreet, the 66 GMC, the 62 C10, a 63 GMC and the Dually... I just can't do them all...

I hear ya Chris. I have a couple that need to be finished besides Homer and my 63 GMC that I really want to build next. I have to be disciplined in that I don't jump back and forth or nothing gets done. If I sell my Chevelle this winter I plan to finish the others this next year while I drive the snot out of Homer.
That's the plan anyways.

Well folks, it's been a while since I had any meaningful progress on Homer to share so I figured it's about time. Squeezing out a little time here and there between working on my Chevelle but I finally got the vent window restored and put back in. Also got my new mirrors installed.
Those vent windows are a P.I.T.A. If you've done em, you know what I mean. Here's a few pics.

I have to practically abandon one project (or more) and focus on the primary build going in order to get done within a reasonable time period. I think on the old adage; "United we stand-Divided we fall". I have pulled off of my Nova and did a Chevelle Pro-Street car and my 68 Homer truck. Hoping to focus some time to pushing the Nova across the finish line before I start on my 63 GMC.

My focus can wander too. Sold off the 35 Chevy coupe project to stay focused on the 48 Suburban, then I buy a 4L80E to upgrade the cc dually and I start planning improvements to the 72 Burb for this winter. And I know the way to get one done is bust butt and stay on one project.

My car buddies around here are the same way. Just having fun I guess. Good to know I am not alone.

No, sadly, we are not alone. I only know two car buddies who only do one at a time. I used to be one of those guys. In fact I used to give guys a hard time saying; "you will never get one done with multiple projects pulling at your time, talents, and resources". Almost like I was better than them cause I refused to get into more than one at a time. Ha.
Now, I too have slipped into the deep dark recesses of a "MULTIPLE PROJECT AT ONE TIME DUDE".
Buy yeah, we are just doing what we like with what we have. It is what it is.

I am hoping out of some of those conversations a little positive feedback will result. My wife hates it. Says it looks stupid. Awwww. I told her last week; "next time you build one of these and have to widen a tailgate, you do it your way. On this one it's staying". She didn't say a word. Just looked at me, rolled her pretty eyes, and went back in the house.

First off, Great story of how you got your truck. Second off, beautiful truck & wife (not in that order necessarily), third off, "she got a sista?
Serious though, treat that woman good. A woman that understands the passion we have for our automobiles is harder to find than a rust free, short bed, fleet side, 68, anniversary colors, with low miles, for under $10,000.

Well let's see a pic of that bad boy.

Here's a couple pics taken this morning of Homer. I took him for a little cruise around the neighborhood and parked him out front so I could spray the vent window frames. Nice to be able to move him away from overspray now.

here's the truck camper. pics suck. this is not my truck and i'm not trying to sell it. i know about the rules.
he's asking 3900.00 but: Will also consider just selling the camper for $400.00, you remove.
402 big block with turbo 400 trans, excellent running condition, two batteries under hood, dual gas tanks, power steering, power brakes, flowmaster dual exhaust, chrome wheels, cab interior seats and dash pad in perfect shape, factory walk thru from cab. Some rust in both side rocker panels and a spot on right front fender. I'm including 2 new rocker panels with truck. The camper itself does need a lot of work. Clear Texas Title.

Look @ my day 2 pics. No getting the camper off other than in pieces. I paid $750 for my C30. It had no rusty rockers. Way to much money in my opinion. Could be cool, but lots of time/money before that happens.
