Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)

So? Mine's not going to have a front suspension after Monday or Tuesday. But she'll be back together soon enough. Buy one of those magnetic cowl covers for the show in case it rains

Also, I'd like to slap the people on VMF who say these cars are cheap to work on. I'm to the point that I'm not telling anyone what I have into mine anymore. I've spent over a grand on the front suspension alone. I spent like $150 rebuilding the front suspension in my C10.

Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)

Your stang looks great! On the front of my stang I put cragars, but the wrong back spacing and my wheels touch the fenders on swells and bumps in the road, not bad, but I watch down the roads to avoid the scrapping sound! I think the correct backspacing in the the fronts is 4.25"? The ones I have now are 3.25", amazing what 1 inch will do!. I'm always looking for my next set of wheels
. As for the cowl, it'd be nice to have one of those inspection cameras to look into the unknown and see what lurks below.

Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)

For 7" wheels up front 4.25 is the recommended BS. 4.75 for 8" wheels. I have 17x7 w/4.25 on the fronts and 17x8 w/4.75 in the back and I STILL had to roll the fenders (they juuuuuuuust barely touched). Mostly because of my tire choice. I went with 215/50/17 front and 245/45/17 rear. Had I gone with a 205/50 and 235/45 I probably wouldn't have had any issues.

Although... I though the 67+ cars had "more room" than the 65/66's?

Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)

So my short shifter has some surprises. The ball had a hole drilled and a pin put through it to hold it. Had to cut it off. I then wanted to thread it but couldnt find a tap and die set around. So I said screw it. I cut that edge off, welded on a bolt, drilled a hole below it. Then welded the inside to the bolt and filled the hole. Then i shaved and rounded off the bolt head. Now it sitting with black paint on it since the chrome was pitted out. Also started the front portion of my console. Can anyone say FIBERGLASS!! It doesnt look like much but soon

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww, you had a Cobalt

As much as I love GM's new stuff... you wouldn't have gotten me into one of those

Is that going to get stuffed into the Mustang?

Haha!!! I loved that car, it was my first new car when I got my career started...I was 22 and it was awesome! No its not getting stuffed in the stang. I may build a custom box to stuff maybe 1 10" sub in the stang but nothing big like that. Takes to much amperage and im not into competition systems anymore. Just enough to be good tunes lol. It was also only 16k brand new...Dang...i wish my scion was 16k

Re: 1967 Mustang Coupe Build (Electra)

A fiberglassing ill go a fiberglassing i ill go...lol forming the double din console peace. Ignore the test fit as the double din is wider then a normal one since its the stock piece out of my cobalt. The form is mostly where, Ill actually make a side connector piece as well but i did the intial form and then the connecting piece to the miata console. Now it dries and i can start fiberglassing over the shell.

Definetly forgot how messy this stuff gets. My dremel has its work cut out for it
