Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Hooked up the trickle charger so we have a good solid charge when we take the cover off and fire up the old beauty for the first time in 2012 on Tuesday 3/20, the first day of Spring! Forecast calling for sun and 75 degrees. Hopefully we'll have 20,000 views on the video to help commemorate the day! We're close! Check it out and feel free to share: The Old Truck Runs Again!
Thanks! |

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Front trim going on, found out I ordered the wrong year rear window, can't find paper work, so ordered another one, now I have a tinted rear window for a 47-55 standard cab to take to swap meet.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
This morning I got my S-10 chassis back in the shop and installed the AD Engineering cab mounts on the frame. And now if I can get the old S10 motor mounts off I'll install the new 350 V8 mounts in their place. Then get ready to set the cab in place and adjust the motor/tranny location.

Bolted on the shinny latch plate my son picked up for me off of CL, not great chrome, but it is cleaner than the original.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Took the cover off, turned the key and she fired right up! Two minute video to mark the occasion here.
Now all we need is the brake drums, all the bearings for the front (and the cha-ching to pay for the stuff), and we'll be able to put everything together and take 'er down the road. Happy first day of Spring! |

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Took my front wheels off yesterday, work the aluminum rims over with a powerball.
Today I cleaned up and sprayed my calipers and rotors and then mounted up, connected and filled my new radiator - gotta install the trans cooler tomorrow, time permitting. |

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Thanks, Ray. You know how it is with hot rods....they can never have too big of engine, too much tire or too many carburetors! Believe it or not, those are factory 55 colors, with a little enhancement.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Renewed my enthusiasm!
I ran into a random fellow owner with a '58 GMC long stepper in the parking lot of a drug store. It caught my eye cause the chrome was flawless and the black paint looked pretty damn good from 20'. Spent about 20 minutes talking trucks after telling him I admired his and that I have a '55 Chevy getting no love right now as I am reworking my garage. lots of fun memories, stories of riding in our father's '55-59 Chev/GMC's. I'm amped to get back to my baby! And that's always a good thing. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Well mine wasn't today but it was over the weekend. I just joined here, so bare with me till I figure out how to get my pics up off my iPhone ( any suggestions?!?!). I tore the front suspension out and sent my beam to nostalgia Sid in Oklahoma to stretch it 3" Yesterday my new bearings, shackles, and some other parts came in from classic parts of America. Love those guys, but dang their prices have jumped over the last few yrs!!

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
I just finished installing my grill and bumper. Like yours, my bumper was as nice as I've ever seen. Mine is a Keystone brand, any chance that's what yours is?
I got my grill and bumper from GoodMark about two years ago and never unwrapped either one before a few days ago. Both look to be good quality but I had to enlarge or enlongate almost every hole to get the grill bolted up. It's always nice when re-pop parts actually fit and look good. |
