Unpolished might be a better route, then I don't have to polish it every time...

If you look at Jon's it looks like chrome, if you look at mine it looks like.......well, stainless steel. Depending on what your building, Jon's is a show truck, mine is a work truck. Bling or no bling

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!
I finally got back out into the garage today and mounted one of my Tabco cab corners. Seems to fit pretty well except that i'm fitting a floor, B-pillar, rocker and cab corner together..all aftermarket...all from different companies!!!!
Any input on the fit under the corner would be great...

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!
Fits pretty well, small spot deep in the corner that will need a patch...
I need to hang the door, get the rocker close and finish the cab corner.... Not happy with the gap between the rocker and the cab corner but it's metal right? so i'll just make it go where I want it to...

I like that the Tabco metal doesn't "melt away" like the other pieces that I have...

Kevin, should I tack this more before stitching it? I don't like how it comes out when I tack the whole thing...too many holes still to fill in... Also should there be any gap deep in the corner of the rocker and should the cab corner and rocker have a tight seam on the lower curve?

Nice work Mike! I have heard that the Tabco patch panels are the best that you can buy. Looks like they fit pretty darn good! How is the thickness of them? Can you tell a difference between them and other brands? ...Joe

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!
They seem a little different but it's hard to tell... maybe not as "soft" ya know... and they don't have the EDP so i'm not sure how they prevented rust on them...almost like they are galvanized a little or something.

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!
My guess is that the Tabco panels are cold rolled vs. hot rolled.....they are both "mild steel" but the cold rolled steel is more porous, stronger and less prone to rust....but is also more expensive as it has to be treated twice......

Re: 68 K-10 SWB build thread - project Money Pit...pics galore!
More progress...
Kinda got the rocker installed, what a PITA!!!! I think my floor is a little high in the front.. 1/8 - 3/16" atleast... So after much fuss I was able to get the rocker on and the door to open and shut without rubbing.... I might have to grind the top and bottom of the door a little before it's all over... After it was all said and done it works...and then I noticed a small ding in the rocker?? can't win Also got this cool light from my inlaws for xmas, 30 LED's and bright as heck...I didn't think that LED's were that bright but it will blind you that's for sure. It's craftsman and says that it's unbreakable, they actually show a car driving over it... we'll see about that!!!

I like that the tabco patch says "made in the USA" on it!
Never heard of them before... where can you buy their stuff/who carries them? Looking good man! You're almost there!

Nice work Mike, looks like everything fits well. Maybe when ya get outa the Army you could do restorations. If you close up the gap on the rocker at the rear you open it up at the front IIRC
