No spid but its pretty obvious its a Highlander and I'm pretty sure its a YG8 Promo Package Highlander.

Now that is a nice truck...right there.
What I find really interesting is the interest in it and the amount of bidding. This tells me a lot as to where most of the buyers and buying interest lies and where true classic truck vehicle/value lies.
The truck does not appear to be afflicted with modifications (height/bodywork/suspension/wheels/HiPo engine/etc) and for the better part has been kept in what appears to be very good, stock condition which is why undoubtedly there is a lot of interest in it.
It will be interesting to see what it is bid up to and if it sells.

From the Q/A section of the ad. "The truck was repainted in 2005. The color is a little lighter than the pictures suggest. If you look close at the pics of the tires you can get a better idea of the green. The paint job was for purely cosmetic reasons. The truck has never been in an accident and never had rust.. I was told the undercarriage is original. The doctor wasn't sure if the miles were original, so he had the title changed to unknown. It's just the way he thinks. I have his service records. A fantastic guy who really cared about this truck. No squeaks or rattles. Very solid! Everything works perfectly, even the FM modulator that turns the AM radio into and FM radio. You can see some of the old dust under the seat and realize that the truck never really got dirty. It's had an easy life."

Hmmm, if so well taken care for so many years, why the repaint? And why the "unknown" miles on the title? If ya owned the truck and ya knew it to be low-mile original etc etc, why would you, if given the option, have "unknown" put on the title? Given his gushing claims about the condition of the truck, one would think that a repaint would be worth mentioning, yet he had to be asked specifically, if the truck had ever been repainted. I'd do some more research if I was interested in buying this truck. No doubt, though, a stunning looking machine.

It does look pretty nice. Being two wheel I'm glad it was left alone. I'd say it's at least a 15000 dollar truck. eBay you never know where it ends up though

Very interesting and informative (as usual) thread. All things being equal between two trucks, does a Highlander hold a higher value? As many have said, I have never been crazy about the plaid fabric, but having a little more knowledge, Iam intrigued to say the least. If the SPID is gone ( or reproduced) is there any way to identify what equipment a truck had originally? Does the Heritage Center have that information?

I would say Highlanders, like a lot of kind of different things, are an acquired taste. The GM Heritage Centre has the info if your truck was built at the Oshawa Ontario assembly plant in Canada. Unfortunately the assembly plants in the USA did not keep the info.

22 Pages of Highlanders and not one SPID documented 4x4 pickup!! I thought for sure one would pop up in this thread. Sill haven't seen any literature that says you couldn't order a Highlander trim or Promo package on a 4x4, but there doesn't seem to be any out there!
I posted mine way back on one of the first couple pages but it was still under construction at that point. its 99% complete now.

Its a Highlander "tribute" or "clone" 1972 Chevy K10 SWB Fleetside. Originally a low optioned 4x4 Custom/10 that I restored to be a Custom Deluxe Highlander. Possibly something they never built??? Great thread and great info here. Is anyone sitting on a sneaky original 4x4 highlander????

Thanks for the reply. As a matter of fact my truck was built at the Oshawa plant so I will order a packet from the Heritage Center. What are your thoughts on the value of a Highlander vs a Cheyenne? There is no indication that the truck I have now is a Highlander but Iam curious about them.

My thoughts are the Cheyenne will bring more money because it has a broader appeal than a Highlander and the Cheyenne Super trumps them both.

I agree with Already Gone, I hear a lot of people say they hate the plaid. Most people have no idea what a Highlander is so that narrows the market where a Cheyenne or better yet Super is badged and more well known.

Whether one could get a highlander 4x4 or not (and I believe you are correct, everything I've read implies an option for C's only) - that is one BEAUTIFUL k10. Thanks for sharing the updated pics Nick!

Here is my 72 I picked up yesterday. It's a trim truck, no promo code. I had to save it. The seat was sold out of the truck before I got to it. It was going to be parted out and used to fix a short bed truck. I'll get some better pics later. The iPhone will only let me post one pic at a time.

I'd say Cheyenne as well. Not a lot of people even know what the highlander was. Being that it is just a spid code and most people when rebuilding their trucks don't actually keep the highlander motif,most trucks aren't even equipped with the full Package after 40 years. It's nice to see them but most people wouldn't pay any more for it where Cheyenne and super are badged and marked as such. So will go for a little more.

According to Barrett Jackson...the early GM trucks with the Highlander option are the ZL1/Yenko's of the collector truck world.
