We've finished most of what we wanted to do on the chassis...

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build
Well, maybe a bit more...repaired a couple body mounts at the rear and then plated all of them.

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build
A bit on the motor...540 ci w/Carillo rods, Wiseco forged 8.5 to 1 pistons, Kryptonite crank(LA Enterprise) going into a 10.2 tall deck BBC with "Big Brodie" Brodix heads. We're still working on cam choice, but this motor was originally a 900SC from Mercury Racing.
We're pairing it with a 671 Weiand blower and a couple 650 Edelbrocks. The plan is to run around 8-10 lbs boost on pump gas. We may run a couple hundred shot of NOS since we have most of the set-up from the last motor.

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build
We want to be a little obnoxious with this, so we chased down a 4" tall intercooler (gutted) to use as a spacer between blower and intake...make it stick out of the hood more.
The only problem was that it was for a 871. We sectioned/machined/welded the rear of the cooler to fit our shorter (lengthwise) 671 intake. The heads had been painted in their prior life...poorly. We had the heads vatted and then bead blasted them. We wanted to powder coat them clear, but after discussions with Brodix decided not to. Brodix is a couple hundred miles away in Mena, AR...so we ran the heads, lower intake, and spacer to them for a quick refinishing...looks brand new and is the finish we were after.

The first fire/break-in/tune will be on the dyno at the machine shop...I'm hoping in the next month or so.

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build
Working on putting the chassis back together...cleaning, painting, and upgrading where we can.
Changed up the wheels and went with a little bigger 31x16.5x15s, also switched over to coil overs on the rear.

Thanks Capt., 15x12 on the wheels.
We hung a new gear box on Capt.'s mount...upgrading the steering a bit. Also ran the brake and fuel lines...

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build
Picked up a set of mounts for the block, felt like we needed something stouter than stock...fabbed up the frame side mounts tonight.
Dropped a size on the front tires...275/60R-15 to 255/60R-15 on 8" wheels. We wanted a bit more room for the fenderwell headers at full lock and bump.

Re: Our "What are we going to do?" 66 Suburban Build
We've been gathering other parts up too...
BTE HD T400 w/RMVB, transbrake, 36 element Pro Mod Sprag, Vasco steel input shaft, Vasco steel intermediate shaft...built for north of 1500HP (we won't have quite that, but good insurance.) BTE 11" Race Torque Converter, flash stall around 4K, (spragless w/mechanical diode)...again, good for 1500HP+. JetHot extra high temp coated Schoenfeld fenderwell headers, 2.25 primaries into 4" collectors w/V-band flange. NOS blower injector plate...will keep it around a 200 shot. Kilduff "lightning rod" shifter
