Slick Copper's Build Thread
Ok so some of you may have seen my other thread "I married the most amazing woman", and I said I was going to start a build thread so here goes.
Here's my truck: It's a 67 LWB 2wd Custom optioned truck with the optional panoramic cab. BTW if anyone's found out the production number of the "big window" 67's let me know. Has the original 250 straight six. Automatic truck with a th350 tranny. THE PLAN: Well....as for now I just want to get it running again!! Had some fuel and ignition problems, still trying to sort them out actually. But waiting to get a new battery currently ($$). Long Term: Complete Cab off restoration, rebuild the original 250 with a lot more ponies (I'm guessing torque will come naturally as these engines were designed). 4 Barrel Edelbrock, Offy intake, ceramic coated header (anyone know whos got 'em?), port & polished head with roller rockers. Repaint motor the original alpine green with plenty of the shiny stuff! New TH350 from Summit to handle the rebuilt motor. Sorry I'm goin on so much, so many ideas...as far as the look, probably minor drop (like 2"), original look with all the chrome trim, paint will be a little brighter than original more of a coppery orange color (hince the name "slick copper") w/white top. Also anyone know if my truck is painted as original? I've seen some have the A pillars painted white also. What is correct? Rally wheels painted white with chrome rings and centers Updated lighting Euro headlamps, LED's on the tail/brake lights. Interior: painted copper with gray seat, carpet, dash pad, doorpanels etc. custom gauges of some sort. OK, OK. Now I want your opinions and ideas! Let me know what you think! Any questions just ask!

Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread
Yeah, plan to do some work on it tommorow in preparation for the battery. I'll take some pics of engine bay, interior, and all around too, show you all more detail of it.

Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread
so what needs to be fixed the truck looks perfect the way it is
EDIT: just read your first post and the red on your truck isnt orginal and it is not an original color used by gm for these trucks. (so i believe) the pillars on the left and right side of the 67s where painted the same color as the rest of the truck what was white is:every where above the drip rail Last edited by 67chevy1series; 03-13-2011 at 04:46 AM. |

Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread
BTW ahead of time: sorry this one's turning out to be a book! Lots of memories here!
I'll have to find a pic of it, but it all got started when I was 13. My best friend's dad was getting rid of two old farm trucks. Both of them Chevy's one a 49 stepside, the other a 1970 C/10 with a 350 V8! Guess which one I picked? Well, seein' as there was a snake curled up on top of the air cleaner of the 49 It also helped sway my decision. I only had to deal with a mice nest in the glove box and all kinds of wasp nests! So I worked on it there forever until he told me that he was gonna have to get it hauled off if I couldn't take it home. After begging and begging my single mother to let me bring it home she caved in. I was 15 or 16 at that point. LONG STORY....After rebuilding the engine....twice....(I mixed up a couple of the main bearing caps and lost oil pressure on my way to school one morning) Anyway my awesome autoshop teach let me bring it in, tear it down again and start over. After breaking it in again (with the entire class in the bed of the truck and me doing a burnout!) I drove it until I graduated and was looking for a job. Heading to church one rainy evening on a freshly paved road, some idiot decides to pull out in front of me. I missed him and hit another car waiting to turn onto the road he pulled out of, turned and t-boned her right in the driver door. As the frame twisted and metal crumpled the engine redlined, and i cut the key off just in time. We were both fine, just shakin up, but both vehicles were totaled including my c/10. BTW it was a manual 3 on the tree lwb truck. All it needed was a paint job. after having it towed home I pulled the doors off, engine, tranny, anything I thought was worth saving, and sent it off to the crusher, and started the search for something else to drop the motor into. Found a 82 Z/28 camaro body for 800 dollars. Turned around two months later and sold it to a guy who had to have it, for 1 grand. Now my wife (her first car was a 91 camaro that she wishes she had and was totaled) wishes I had kept it. Unfortunately I didn't know her then. Always loved the '67 trucks though so found a SWB and bought it for the same $800. Still have it, but it's rough. Only good things are the frame and front dog house. Never had time to work on it much and there it sits still at my mom's next to the barn, just waitn for someone...... Anyway then I meet the most amazing woman ever and she suprises me with the beauty you've come to know as slick copper.

Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread
Look what I bought!!!!!!!
Yeah yeah I know. "I'm on a budget". But I found General Lee wheels for my truck!!! Been my dream, but never thought I'd actually come across them! I was just lookin' around on Ebay at my wheel options, and there they were! So after litterally jumping up and down on the couch , my wife and I made a compromise: No swap meet next weekend, and I can get 'em. DONE! They're on their way! I can't wait!

Those things are awesome. You need to take your wife out for a romatic dinner and make sure she knows how special she is to you.

Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread
My parents have a prius, weve had a lot of problems with it it seems like its my step mothers and she also has a 05 ford pickup with only around 50,000 miles and theyve had nothing but problems with that piece of junk so it could just be the owner not the cars and they live in the country also and those cars arent made for the gravel rodes and huge snow drifts. They have the 2nd newest generation prius if that makes sense?

Re: Slick Copper's Build Thread
You don't like the 'yota's? I work at the KY factory so I get a discount! Good cars/trucks, mostly. Had 2 Silverado's they were both junk (no offense to those who like 'em). I love my Tundra! Blows all the other new trucks away!
