Re: Project Topless 365/24/7
Thats why I am wondering if you could pull back the material in the spots where the magnets go, epoxy the magnents in, then pull the material back over the magnets. That way you will have twice the chance of the magnets staying in place. Also, after I talked to you, I noticed some of the magnets do have screw holes in the,.

Re: Project Topless 365/24/7
I wonder if you shouldt route out the MDF and glue in a small strip of wood that wont coem apart like MDF or you could put the magnets on the body and a thin piece of steel on the mdf. Just a thought.

Re: Project Topless 365/24/7
In retrospect, MDF may not have been the best choice for a topless vehicle. It doesn't like moisture (even high humidity) and will expand and break over time. If you're willing to call a redo at this point, consider using marine plywood as your substrate. As for attachment, the lock block mentioned earlier in this thread is a very good choice, and is used by rodders the world over for just this kind of application.

Re: Project Topless 365/24/7
there is no problem using mdf in a topless vehicle. just put a coat of resin over the mdf surfaces when fiberglassing the pods and it will last as long as the pods do.

Re: Project Topless 365/24/7
Well, you could use rolls of Charmin if you put fiberglass resin over them to protect them. My point was wrt MDFs own behavior when it gets wet... not MDF encased in a waterproof finish.

Re: Project Topless 365/24/7
Inherited71(Trae) came over today and helped me get the motor running right it sounds really good. I really appreciate it Trae. Sorry for the lack of progress pics, I really have been getting a lot done.
I got the Camaro Fan in and it looks like it belongs there. 6x9's are in and wired up and by themselves the garage is cranking. Got my back seatbelts in yesterday. One normal lap belt and Halen's 3 point harness. Had to take the harness to my mother in law's and have her shorten it because it wasn't made for a 4 year old. I got the lap belt in and some of the harness, just have to drill a few holes. Ordered my Alpine 6.5 components yesterday and hopefully they'll be in this week and I can get them in. Wires are already ran so it won't take long. Got the air breather that Woody brought me and my new air filter installed. Was going to try to get the alignment done tomorrow, but the temporary air-line that Jason hooked up for the front got a little close to the exhaust so I'm waiting on him to come help with the air stuff. I'm going to have to make something to hide the amps and wiring, but everything is hooked up.

They are right about the MDF, It absorbs moisture like a sponge. You may have issues down the road..no pun intended.

Re: Project Topless 365/24/7
looks great brian can`t wait to see it in person!!... you might do what i did with my amp, i flipped my rear seat and screwed a piece of pywood on the bottom of the frame then mounted the amp upsidedown on the plywood, its tucked up under the seat and off the floor, and bolted down..

Re: Project Topless 365/24/7
One quick tip, thought. Eventually one day you are going to get caught in the rain. I guarantee you. What you should do is make a little tub for the amps to sit in. Or put a 1/8 spacer underr them so they arent on the ground... A very small amount of water will hurt those things...
