I think it will flow and make it look like part of the seat.

Todays accomplishment. With the Miata done and gone, now I can concentrate on the truck. The fenders, inner fenders and core support got some color.

Does anyone have any pix of how the cab bushings go? I'm going to paint the roof since it is sitting on the ground. Then test fit the cab on the frame finish seam sealing. While it is on the frame I can get to the bottom of the cab to finish up the seats. Then the cab will finally get some color.

The seat brackets are almost done. I bolted them to the seats, set the seats in place, aligned, then tacked in place. Finaly I drilled thru the bracket and floor 16 times. I will remove the tacks and clean up

Right now this is what it looks like. It got late last night and didn't finish the last leg. I just cut off the feet and turned them to the inside. There was some interfearance with the seats. I had to locate the center seat to the front somewhat because when I flipped the center seat back up it hit the back of the cab. After all of this i realized that the seat brackets probably weren't needed. I could have flipped the center seat brackets the way I did and just shortened them. The seats sat on the floor just fine without the center seat in. But with the seats being raised it made it more comfortable and more leg room. I felt like it was easier to reach the pedals. I've sat in another truck with these same seats and it was ackward driving it, by that I mean I felt like I had to lift my leg up when going from the gas to the brake.

Looks very nice Allen...Love the Orange. The newer seats are much harder to install being three pieces....and I know what you mean about the seat height. I am 5'-11" and in my 02 HD I have the seat adjusted all the way up, not forward but up, because it feels better. With it down it feels like your sitting in a hole or maybe on one of those weard bikes with your feet out in front of you.... Doesn't that seat have the electric adjust?

Thanks 502, I put the seats in the position that I liked. Since I willl be the only driver and tried to align everything to that, so everything (the rest of the seats) will be aligned. But, there is room for adjustment up/down and forward/back. The seat can't go back anymore due too space limitations behind it. If the seat back is tilted forward a little then it will go back more, but uncomfortable.

For the most part the seats are done. The seats sit closer to each other than they use to. I needed to do that to line the seat up on the steering column. So too make it even the passenger seat had to come in as well.





Cab going up for a test fit and I'm glad I did before I painted it. Even the professionals make mistakes. The right front cab support hole in the pan is not lined up. I don't know what happened. I basically have to do what I did on the drivers side. Cut out a square around the hole and move it. I could have sworn I dropped a bolt thru it. The rear cab mount bolt that came in the replacement kit is too big for the factory nut. I will need to knock off the factory cage nut and use the nut in the kit.



Me and missing hardware. The radiator support kit that I ordered is missing a carriage bolt.





Test fitted the front sheet metal again. For several reasons get them in a safe location and I cleaned up the shop today. Oh yeah I need to repair the headlight mount panel and test fit it on the new fenders.

Your truck sure is looking nice man. What brand paint are you guys sprayng? Your finish looks good too. What gun and tip size did you use for your base and what for your clear? I've had good luck using my sata 3000 hvlp 1.3 for base and sata 3000 RP 1.4 for my clears. I used to use the same gun untill I painted an E4 ford fender and blended the door and on my door I had mett. flecks in my blend panel. Then I went to using seperate guns.
I have my bed and fenders stripped down, bodyworked and ready for primer, but I dont know which im going to go with yet. What did you do from bare metal? Did you etch prime and then use high build primer or did you epoxy and then build primer? Did you prep your primer out in 600 and just base on it or did you prep it in 320-400 and seal it before your base? Both ways will work, but I just wated your opinion of what you did and why before I do mine. I dont know what system would be better since they both work well. I do all insurance repairs and dont have a lot of experiance in all bare metal completes, so thats why I ask. all i do at work is spot repair, panels, blends, edging .. insurance jobs dont do complete strip and refinishes too often. Thanks man. When you baked it - did you let it flash for 10-15 before bake or did you go straight out and kick on the bake? Do you guys bake at 155 for 45min or? We just got our blowtherm booth and it seems if I come straight out aand kick on bake immediately i get some solvent pop issues, but if I wait 10-15 or 20 ... bake it everything is fine. The paint rep says to immediatly bake it so as to not trap solvents and we use SIKKENS, but I think it needs to flow out for 10-15 before bake. Let me know what works for you thanks.
